クロアチア代表のズラトコ・ダリッチ監督がユーロ2020敗退を嘆いた。クロアチアサッカー連盟(HNS)が伝えている。

クロアチアは28日に行われたユーロ2020ラウンド16で、スペイン代表と対戦。前半相手GKのミスからオウンゴールで先制するも、そこから3失点を許す展開に。しかしそこから反撃に転じたチームは、後半アディショナルタイムに同点に追いつく。延長戦では逆転まであと一歩というところまで迫ったが、2点を奪われると力尽き3-5のスコアで敗れた。

この結果、強豪国相手に善戦したもののクロアチアのユーロ2020ラウンド16敗退が決定している。
試合後の会見に臨んだダリッチ監督は、ミスの代償を支払ってしまったとコメント。同時に、勝者となった対戦相手のスペインやここまで死力を尽くした自チームの選手を称賛している。

「前半、我々は多くのランニングをしたがあまり実を結ばなかったと思う。一方で、スペインにもチャンスはあったがそれを生かせていなかった。我々は何とか試合に戻れたが、いくつか大きなミスをしてしまったね。スペインは素晴らしいチームであり、すべてのミス、すべての停滞を罰してくる」
「延長戦の最初に訪れたチャンスを活かせなかったのが、決定打となった。勝利によって準々決勝進出を得たスペインと、試合で力を発揮した私のチームの選手たちを称えたい。我々は、良いプレーをする素晴らしいチームと対戦したんだ」

「応援してくれたファンの方々、そして120分間ベストを尽くした選手たちのことを思うと、とても悲しい。同点に追いついた後はエネルギーを蓄えることができず、延長戦の末に敗れてしまった」

また、ダリッチ監督は67分に投入してから1ゴール1アシストの活躍を見せたFWミスラフ・オルシッチを称賛。チームに変化をもたらしてくれたと語った。

「オルシッチは生き生きとしており、反応も良く、彼が出場したことにはとても満足している。彼は適切な方法でチームに入り、イニシアチブとアドバンテージをもたらしてくれた。良いプレーをしたと思うよ」

ベスト8に足りないもの…スペイン、ドイツではなくクロアチアにあった学ぶもの

「この4年間もできる限りのことをやってきたつもりですが、これでも足りなかったという現実がある」 そう語ったのはカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で日本代表のゴールを4試合守り抜き、ビッグセーブ連発で沸かせたGK権田修一(清水エスパルス)だった。 「新しい景色」と題して、ベスト8進出を目標に掲げて戦ってきた日本代表。4年前の2018年、ロシアの地での劇的な敗戦から、その壁を打ち破るべく準備を進めてきた。しかし、4度目の挑戦となったラウンド16で、日本はクロアチア代表と対戦。前回大会の準優勝国を相手に立ち向かった中、最後はPK戦で決着。またしても、壁を打ち破ることはできなかった。 「選手たちは新時代を見せてくれたと思います」と試合後に口にした森保監督。その言葉通り、“死の組”とも言われたグループステージでW杯王者のドイツ代表、スペイン代表を下しての首位通過を果たした。まさに新時代が来たと言っても良いだろう。この2試合の勝利は、偶然でもまぐれでもなかった。 ただ、その2チームに勝てたチームは、クロアチアの前に敗れた。もちろん実力は相手の方が上。決して楽観視をしていたこともないだろう。ただ、森保監督は自分たちのスタイルを出して真っ向勝負に挑むことを選択。ドイツやスペイン以上に、前半はやりたいことをやれていたはずだ。それでも、壁は打ち破れなかったわけだが、それには大きな違いがあった。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆日本に対するリスペクト</span> あのパスが、あのシュートが…と言い出せばキリがない。それは、日本に限らず、どの国にもあること。細かい技術的な部分、そして戦術的な部分でもああしておけば、ということはいくらでも言える。そこを指摘し始めたらキリがなく、選手も監督もレベルアップするしかないという結論でしかない。 では何が足りなかったのか。そして何が違ったのか。1つは、日本代表に対する感情だといえる。 試合前、クロアチア代表のズラトコ・ダリッチ監督は「我々は相手が誰であり、彼らのメンタリティを知っている。さらに先に進みたいのであれば、全く同じ態度を示さなければいけない」とコメント。「我々は最善を尽くし、誰も過小評価しない。対戦相手に最大限の敬意を払い、どちらがより優れたチームであるかを見ていきたい」と日本について語っていた。 この発言が出た理由は2つあると考えられ、1つはドイツとスペインに勝ったという事実、そしてもう1つがクロアチア代表の特徴でもある、規律を重んじ、勇敢に戦い、努力を怠らないというものだ。 世界中の誰もが驚いたドイツとスペインに対する勝利。これにより、当然ながらクロアチアは日本への警戒心が高まったはずだ。初戦だったドイツ、コスタリカに負けた姿を見たスペインは、少なからず日本に対するマイナスの評価があったはず。それは試合中のプレーにも見られ、ドイツでは浅野拓磨のゴール時の守備、スペインでは後半立ち上がりの警戒心の薄さにも出ている。 ただ、クロアチアにはその様子はなかった。チームとしてしっかりと日本に対してプレーを続け、緩むシーンはほとんどなかったと言えるだろう。 そしてもう1つが、リスペクトが故の戦い方の変化だ。これこそがドイツとスペインにはなく、クロアチアにあったものと言える。 クロアチアはパスを繋いでいく一方で、ロングボールを多用して日本のゴールに迫った。また、両サイドからのクロス、ロングスローを利用して高さを生かしてプレーしてきた。 日本はなんとか対応していたものの、後半には一瞬の隙を突かれて失点。それも鋭いクロスからのヘディングだった。日本をリスペクトすることでしっかりと日本を分析して攻め手を変えること。そして、これまで以上に途中出場の三笘薫(ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン)がケアされたことを考えても、クロアチアがいかに日本に対してしっかりと対策を練っていたかが窺い知れる。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆優秀な選手をいかに輩出、そして育てるか</span> そして簡単には行かない違いで言えば、選手を生み出す土壌だ。クロアチアはW杯の歴史としては1998年のフランス大会が初出場。日本代表とW杯デビューは一緒だ。 グループステージでも対戦した中で日本は敗戦。グループステージで敗退となったが、クロアチアは3位という好成績を残した。2006年のドイツ大会でも日本はグループステージで同居して0-0のドロー。共にグループステージで敗退した。 その後、2010年は予選敗退、2014年はグループステージ敗退と結果を残せていなかったが、2018年のロシア大会では準優勝という成績を残した。 クロアチアは旧ユーゴスラビア圏の国。独立したことでクロアチアとなったが、予てから優秀な選手の宝庫だった。もちろん土壌も違い、相手は列強が揃うヨーロッパを舞台に常に戦っているという差はあるが、出てきた才能を伸ばし、トップクラスの選手たちを育成したという点がクロアチアが積み上げてきたものだ。 日本がいきなりヨーロッパの国のようになることはなく、100年経っても追いつけないことかもしれない。ただ、選手たちが常日頃から高いレベルのサッカーを経験し、それもトップクラスでレベルアップに力を注いでいる。W杯に出場してからの24年のサイクルで間違いなく成長している。日本の育成も間違いなく進化しており、高みを目指している動きは確実にある。 4大会連続でW杯に出場した長友佑都(FC東京)は「日本人の戦う魂は見せられたと思うし、負けてしまって残念ですけど、日本サッカーは確実に成長しているなと僕は感じています」とコメント。他の選手も成長を口にした。着実に歩みを進めている中で、これをしっかり継続していくことが、“新しい景色”に導くはず。「何かを変えなければいけないですし、チェンジではなくアップデートしていく必要がある」と権田も語ったが、経験を積み上げて、どうアップデートしていくか。選手個々も、サッカー協会、そして指導者も、一歩ずつ近づいていく必要があるだろう。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆今回の経験を糧にできるか</span> 2000年のシドニー・オリンピック、2002年の日韓W杯を率いたフィリップ・トルシエ監督以来、20年ぶりにA代表と五輪代表の監督を兼務した森保一監督。4年前の悲劇をコーチとして現場で見てきた指揮官は、数多くの批判の中、強かに準備を進めた。 2つの世代を融合し、1チーム2カテゴリーと話していたが、結果として東京五輪世代から9名がメンバー入り。そしてゴールを決めた4人のうち3人が東京五輪世代だった。 東京五輪でメダルを逃した悔しさを生かしてスペインにも立ち向かい勝利。目標としたベスト8には手が届かなかったが、あと一歩にまで再び迫った。 4年前のベルギー戦のように、最後にやられることもなかった。あとは経験値にできるかどうか。クロアチアは4年前の準優勝時に3試合延長戦まで突入し、2試合がPK戦。全てに勝利して決勝に辿り着いていた。 一方で、日本のメンバーは19名が初めてのW杯。ラウンド16を経験したのは6人しかいない。その経験の差は大きいと言える。そしてそこがベスト8に行くために必要になってくるものだろう。 着実に一歩ずつ進んでいる。クロアチアに対して真っ向勝負を挑むことを選択肢、120分間は戦えた。ただ、仕留めることはできず、PK戦でも3本も止められた。この事実を受け止めながらも、4試合で得た経験、そして成果と課題をどう生かすのか。多くの人の心を動かしたSAMURAI BLUEに感謝すると共に、その感情を4年後まで盛り上げ続けてくれることに期待したい。 《超ワールドサッカー編集部・菅野剛史》 2022.12.06 15:40 Tue

W杯で優勝したら“ヌード”に?クロアチアのセクシー美女サポーターが広まる噂に言及
