こうした状況もあり、一時は評価を上げていたスールシャール監督への批判が再燃。しかし、『ESPN Brazil』に出演したフレッジはチームの指揮官が成長しているとして、擁護の姿勢を見せている。
「日を追うごとに、僕たちは監督の進化を目の当たりにしているよ。ユナイテッドのようなビッグクラブにいれば、多くの人が悪い見方をしてくるものだ。でも、強くならなければならないし、監督は優れた頭脳を持っていると思うよ」
また、フレッジはスールシャール監督がユナイテッドの選手として、数多くのタイトルを獲得した経験についても言及。指揮官が経験豊富な元選手であることが自分たち選手にとっての助けになっていると強調した。

ホイルンドの背番号は「17」で決まり? フレッジはトルコ強豪への移籍が秒読み

フェネルバフチェがブラジル代表MFフレッジをユナイテッドから完全移籍で獲得、移籍金は16億円
