リバプールやPSGを指揮した名将・ウリエ氏が73歳で他界…リバプールでカップ3冠を達成

かつてリバプールやパリ・サンジェルマンを指揮したジェラール・ウリエ氏が他界した。73歳だった。

フランス『RMCスポーツ』によると、ウリエ氏は14日の未明に息を引き取ったとのことだ。

フランス出身のウリエ氏は、プロとしてプレーしていなかったなか、26歳で英語教師からサッカー監督になったという異色の経歴。1982年にRCランスの監督に就任すると、チームをUEFAカップ(現ヨーロッパリーグ)へと導くと、1985年に就任したパリ・サンジェルマンではその年にリーグ優勝を果たす。

1988年にフランス代表のアシスタントコーチに就任。ミシェル・プラティニ氏、アンリ・ミシェル氏の下でアシスタントコーチを務めると、1992年7月に監督に就任。その後、U-18フランス代表、U-20フランス代表の監督を歴任した。

1998年にはリバプールの監督に就任すると、2000-01シーズンはFAカップ、ワージントンカップ(EFLカップ)、UEFAカップのカップトレブルを達成。在職中に心臓病で倒れ生死を彷徨ったが復帰していた。

その後はリヨン、アストン・ビラで監督を務めると、2012年7月からレッドブルグループのグローバル・スポーツディレクターとして活躍していた。
