マンチェスター・シティはバルセロナからアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシ(33)を獲得するという夢を追い続けるようだ。
長らくバルセロナの絶対的エースに君臨するメッシだが、今夏に退団を志願。プレシーズン始動に先駆けた新型コロナウイルスの受検やトレーニング参加を拒み、確固たる姿勢を示したが、来夏までの契約に付随する解除金7億ユーロ(約873億7000万円)の存在も大きな障壁となり、最終的にスペイン版『Goal.com』のインタビューで残留を表明した。
そうしたメッシの移籍騒動が世間を賑わせた当時、有力な新天地候補として名が挙がったのが恩師であるジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督が率いるシティだった。最終的に実現しなかったわけだが、最高執行責任者(COO)を務めるオマル・ベラダ氏はイギリスの地元紙『マンチェスター・イブニング・ニュース』で将来的な獲得に意欲を示した。

「メッシがかつて無いほど泣いた」スアレスが自身のバルサ退団時のエピソードを告白「レオから僕を引き離すことに執着した」

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

メッシのボディガードがピッチサイドから居なくなる…リーグから禁止も懸念を口に「ここには大きな問題がある」
