アンデルレヒトの元ベルギー代表DFヴァンサン・コンパニが、昨シーズン限りで退団したマンチェスター・シティの補強について自論を語っている。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えた。

フランス代表DFアイメリク・ラポルテの長期離脱によって、センターバッククライシスに瀕しているシティ。現在、センターバックを本職とする選手は負傷癖を抱えているイングランド代表DFジョン・ストーンズとアルゼンチン代表DFニコラス・オタメンディのみで、MFフェルナンジーニョやMFロドリを緊急コンバートさせて戦う方針を強いられている。

そんな中で、10日にアンフィールドで行われたプレミアリーグ第12節のリバプール戦は、ストーンズとフェルナンジーニョのコンビで挑んだが、結果は3-1の完敗。その後、冬の移籍市場でセンターバックの補強の必要性を唱えるメディアは少なくない。

しかし、長年シティの主将としてセンターバックを務めたコンパニは「ディフェンダーを獲得する必要はない」と真っ向から指摘。さらに、歴史を顧みて、まだシティに3連覇の可能性があることを主張している。
