プレミアリーグに昇格したアストン・ビラは25日、マンチェスター・シティのU-23ブラジル代表MFドウグラス・ルイス(21)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。契約期間は発表されておらず、移籍金はイギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によれば1500万ポンド(約20億円)とのことだ。

アストン・ビラへの加入が決まったドウグラス・ルイスは、｢チームのリーダーになることができると思う。後ろからボールを繋いで助けることができるはずだ。英語はあまり話せないが、叫んでボールを呼び込みたい。素晴らしいシーズンを過ごし、多くの試合に勝利できればと思う。プレミアリーグで輝けると自信を持っている。学ぶためにここに移籍してきたが、ピッチのリーダーになるという大きな夢を持っている｣

ヴァスコ・ダ・ガマでプロデビューを飾ったセントラルMFのドウグラス・ルイスは、2017年7月にマンチェスター・シティに移籍。同年8月にジローナへ即レンタルに出され、2年間ジローナでプレーしていた。昨季はリーガエスパニョーラで23試合に出場していた。

また、先月行われていたトゥーロン国際大会ではU-22ブラジル代表として優勝に貢献していた。
