ジェイ・ロドリゲスがバーンリーに7シーズンぶりの復帰! 今季は2部で22ゴールをマーク

バーンリーは8日、WBAから元イングランド代表FWジェイ・ロドリゲス(29)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。

契約期間は2021年6月30日までの2年間で、1年間の延長オプションが付随している。なお、イギリス『BBC』は今回の移籍金を1000万ポンド(約13億6000万円)と推定している。

2007年にバーンリーでプロキャリアをスタートしたロドリゲスは、2012年にサウサンプトンに加入。加入2年目となった2013-14シーズンにリーグ戦33試合に出場し、15ゴールを挙げるブレイクを果たした同選手は、同年にイングランド代表デビューも飾った。しかし、シーズン終盤にヒザ前十字じん帯を断裂する重傷を負うと、ここからキャリアが暗転。

翌シーズンを棒に振ると、2015-16シーズンはリーグ戦12試合出場でノーゴール。2016-17シーズンもリーグ戦24試合出場で5ゴールと思うような結果を残すことができず、再起を図るため2017年の夏にWBAへ移籍した。

WBAでは加入初年度からレギュラーに定着すると、在籍2シーズンで公式戦89試合に出場し33ゴールをマーク。チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部相当)降格となった今シーズンは、リーグ2位となる22ゴールを挙げる活躍を見せ、チームのプレーオフ進出に貢献した。
