▽前レアル・マドリー指揮官のフレン・ロペテギ氏(52)の代理人が先日報じられた同氏のアメリカ代表監督就任の噂を否定した。『ESPN』が伝えている。

▽ロペテギ氏は、今シーズン初めからレアル・マドリーで指揮を執っていたが、成績不振により10月29日に解任。ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)直前にも、発表されていたマドリー指揮官就任の報にスペインサッカー連盟(RFEF)のルイス・ルビアレス会長が激怒したことで、スペイン代表指揮官を解任されており、約5か月間で2度も職を失うこととなった。

▽だが、スペイン『アス』は以前からロペテギ氏の育成手腕を評価しているアメリカサッカー連盟(USSF)が同氏をアメリカ代表の新指揮官として招へいを検討していると報じていた。さらに、一部ではすでに交渉が決裂しているのではないかとも報じられていた。

▽一連の報道を受けて、同氏の代理人を務めるカルロス・ブセロ氏は『ESPN』でこの噂を否定している。

「一連の報道は正しくない。フレンはいかなるポジションに関するオファーを受け取っていない」

「彼がレアル・マドリーを去ってからまだわずかな日数しか経っていない。今は彼自身が心身を回復する段階にあるし、新たな目標に向けて学習をしていく時期でもある」

▽一方、今回招へいの検討が伝えられているアメリカ代表は、今年のロシアW杯で1968年以来初めて出場を逃しており、昨年10月にブルース・アリーナ前監督が辞任。現在まで、デイヴ・サラチャン氏が暫定で指揮を執る状態が続いている。

「ただいま!という感じ」なでしこと対戦のアメリカ女子、大ケガ乗り越えた2人が胸中明かす
