カメルーン代表指揮官セードルフ「有望な若手は中国やアジアでプレーするべきではない」

カメルーン代表指揮官のクラレンス・セードルフ監督は、同国の有望な若手選手が中国リーグやアジアでプレーすることに否定的な見解を示した。イギリス『BBC』が報じている。

現役時代にミランやアヤックス、オランダ代表として活躍したセードルフ監督は、今月4日にカメルーン代表指揮官に就任。そしてこの度、初めて代表メンバーを招集したが、その中に2017年のアフリカネイションズカップ優勝メンバーであるバンジャマン・ムカンジョ(北京人和)やクリスティアン・バソゴグ(河南建業)らの名前がなかったことはサプライズとなった。

この選択についてセードルフ監督は以下のように話し、有望な若手選手が中国やアジアでプレーするのではなく、欧州トップレベルのリーグに行くべきだとの見解を示した。

「良い若手選手は中国やアジアでしのぎを削ることはない。もし、より良い契約を望むのだとしたら、彼らは代表選手としてプレーするチャンスを失うということを理解してほしい」

「ただし、我々は誰に対してもドアを閉ざすことはない。規律があってハードワークができる選手を求めている。もし中東にいる誰かがチームに何かをもたらすことができるのならば、その選手を招集するだろう」

「最高の選手たちというのは欧州の最高レベルのクラブでプレーすることを望むものだ。チャンピオンズリーグのような最高の大会に出場したいと思うだろう。もし20歳の有望な選手だとしたら、ミランやユヴェントス、チェルシーといったクラブに所属し、チャンピオンズリーグやヨーロッパリーグでプレーするべきだ」

「意味が分からない」カナダ代表の新ユニフォームはナイキのロゴが目立ちすぎ?他国と異なる仕様に「本当にがっかり」「冗談だろ?」

トランスジェンダーの選手として初のメダリストに、カナダ女子代表DFクインが決勝に挑む
