ブラジル代表は自国開催となった4年前のW杯でドイツと対戦。優勝が期待されたチームだったが、まさかの1-7と惨敗。この敗戦は「ミネイロンの惨劇」と名付けられるほど、ブラジル国民にとっても衝撃的なゲームだった。
ブラジル大会でもキャプテンを務めていたシウバは、累積警告のため出場停止となっておりスタンドから敗戦を見届けた。しかし、この敗戦がブラジル代表をより強くしたと感じているようだ。
「毎日新しい何かを学ぶんだ。プロとしても人としても。感情面だってそうさ。感情というのはとても重要なんだ」
「僕たちは何度もその問題を変えようと試みてきたが、うまくいかなかった。でも個人的には無理に何かを変えたくはないんだ。すべてのことは自然に起きるべきだと考えているよ。良いことも悪いことも起きるのは自然なことさ」
ブラジル代表の守備の要は、母国での悔し涙が大きな意味を持つと語った。
「誰もが僕たちの流した涙に値するわけではないということを理解する必要がある。たとえ誰かが馬鹿にしてきたとしても正しいことをしなければならないんだ」

「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。 トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。 1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。 21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

カカ、再婚相手の妊娠を発表! 奥さんは13歳年下の美人モデル
