チェルシーのレジェンドであるジョー・コール氏が、トーマス・トゥヘル監督がサウサンプトンで見せた采配に驚いている。

20日にプレミアリーグ第25節でサウサンプトンと対戦したチェルシー。FW南野拓実のゴールで先制を許す展開となると、後半立ち上がりにMFメイソン・マウントのPKで同点に追いつくものの、追加点は奪えず1-1のドローに終わっていた。

就任以降、ここまで無敗を続けるトゥヘル監督だが、この試合では後半から投入したFWカラム・ハドソン=オドイをその30分後にベンチに下げるという大胆な采配が注目の的となった。試合後に「守備の怠慢による戦術的決定」と説明していたが、選手としてはプライドに傷がつきかねない行為。
『BT Sport』に出演したジョー・コール氏も「驚いた」と話しており、新監督の采配はロッカールームを崩壊させる恐れがあるギャンブル行為であるとの見解を示した。

「シビアだったね。初めて彼の尖った部分を垣間見た瞬間だったよ。前から評判は聞いていたが、強気で大胆な手段を取る監督だ」
「カラムは確かに試合に上手く入れたとは言えなかったが、あのポジションでは瞬間的なプレーが求められる。時々(リオネル・)メッシを見てると思う。もちろん、カラムとメッシを比べるわけではないが、彼は散歩をしながら魔法をかけてくれるのだ。カラムにも一瞬の魔法をかけることができる。みんなも知っているようにね」

「しかし、カラムのプレーに満足できなかったと言った彼の行動は大胆で、過去10年間で分裂する可能性のあったチェルシーのロッカールームにおいてそれはギャンブルだ。火曜日の夜に試合に臨む選手たちに動揺を与える必要があったのかどうか私は疑問だ」

自宅は海上に? チェルシーを手放してもうすぐ3年…ロシア人実業家アブラモビッチ氏の近況は

18歳の若さでこの世を去ったバラック氏の次男に、パートナーが哀悼のメッセージ
