ブリスベン・ロアーは19日、エバートンのアカデミーからMFシェイ・ケイヒル(18)を複数年契約で獲得したことを発表した。シェイ・ケイヒルは、かつては"日本の天敵"とも称されたオーストラリア代表の英雄、FWティム・ケイヒル氏の息子。父もプレーしたエバートンのアカデミーに14歳から所属し、攻撃的なMFとして昨季はU-18プレミアリーグで9試合に出場し3アシストを記録した。
母国でトップチームのキャリアをスタートさせる有望株。クラブの最高経営責任者(CEO)カズ・パタフタ氏も「エキサイティングな時代がやってくる」と、太鼓判を押している。

「ワールドクラスのエバートンアカデミーから来たシェイ・ケイヒルとの契約を発表できてうれしく思う。このような有望な若いミッドフィールダーを確保することは、若い才能をトップチームに統合するというクラブの新しいビジョンの証です。シェイの加入は、ロアーのファミリーにエキサイティングな時代がやってくることを約束します」

また、父親のティム・ケイヒル氏からも「おめでとうございます。あなたをとても誇りに思います。君自身のサッカーを楽しんで、夢を追い続けてください」と、自身のSNSでエールが送られている。

元オーストラリア代表FWティム・ケイヒル氏(44)の次男が、所属するブリスベン・ロアーとの契約を解除した。豪『news.com.au』が伝えている。 日本代表相手に幾度となくネットを揺らしたケイヒル氏。180cmに満たない身長ながら、類まれなるジャンプ力から放たれるヘディングシュートは一級品で、全盛期を過ごしたエバートンでは今なお絶大な人気を誇る。 現在カタール代表のテクニカルディレクターを務めているが、妻との間に3人の息子と1人の娘がおり、長男キア・ケイヒル(21)と次男シェイ・ケイヒル(19)もフットボーラーだ。 ケイヒル氏がサモアにルーツを持つこともあり、長男キアは世代別のころからサモア代表を選択。キャリアの軸足を豪州ではなくサモアに置く、父と同じ“178cmストライカー”だ。 一方、次男シェイはセントラルハーフ。06年ドイツW杯の前年に生まれた19歳は、父も過ごしたエバートンの下部組織に所属し、昨夏母国のブリスベン・ロアーとプロ契約を結んだ。 ブリスベン加入発表時は、まだカタール入りしていなかった父が契約締結に同行。ユニフォームを手に並んで写真に収まる姿も公開され、大きな期待と注目を浴びていたという。 クラブも当時、「育成の名門エバートンからシェイを獲得できて喜ばしい限りです。ブリスベン・ロアーにとってエキサイティングな時代の到来となることを約束します」と宣言した。 しかし、シェイは今季を通してリーグ戦2試合30分間の出場にとどまり、大半をU-18チームで過ごしたとのこと。そしてこの度、双方合意の契約解除をブリスベンが発表した。 まだまだこれからという19歳シェイ・ケイヒル。契約解除の経緯は明らかになっていないが、人生初の母国生活でプロキャリア最初の壁にぶつかった格好。今後の飛躍に期待したい。 2024.06.25 13:40 Tue

アストン・ビラがエバートンWGドビンを獲得…連日にわたる両クラブ間の移籍成立に

エバートンがU-20イングランド代表MFイローグブナムをアストン・ビラから完全移籍で獲得!

エバートンが今季リーズからレンタルのFWハリソンを再レンタルで獲得!
