9月12日のトレーニング中に負傷した板倉は、左ヒザ内側じん帯の部分断裂と診断され、手術をせずにカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の出場を目指すことを選択した。

懸命のリハビリが功を奏し、これまで順調に回復。負傷からおよそ2カ月が経過した、11日のブンデスリーガ第15節、ホームでのドルトムント戦でベンチ入りを果たすと、4-2とリードして迎えた88分、ついにピッチへ。大きな歓声で迎えられた。

クラブの公式ツイッターは試合後に板倉の写真を公開。この日ゴールを決めたラミ・ベンセバイニとのツーショットで、板倉は笑顔でサムアップを決めている。

復活を遂げた板倉には「お帰りなさい」、「間に合って良かった」、「ベンゼバイニと板倉は熱い」、「やったぜ!」、「需要ありすぎる写真」などの声が国内外から寄せられた。

試合はそのままボルシアMGが逃げ切り、いい形でW杯ブレイクに突入。クラブにとっても、日本にとっても明るい話題となった。

「爽やか〜」「かっこよすぎ」田中碧のニューヘアーが大絶賛、大先輩も「髪型グーやん」
