アメリカ女子代表のFWアレックス・モーガン(31)が、新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)に感染していたようだ。
アメリカ女子代表のエースとして過去3回のワールドカップに出場しているモーガンは、2020年9月にナショナル・ウーマンズ・サッカーリーグ(NWSL)のオーランド・プライドからトッテナムに加入していた。
FA女子スーパーリーグ(FA WSL)では5試合に出場し、2ゴールを記録。契約には今年5月末までの延長オプションが付いていたものの、2020年限りで退団してアメリカに帰国し、オーランド・プライドに復帰することが発表されていた。
そのモーガンだが、年末に新型コロナウイルスに感染していたとのこと。自身のツイッター(@alexmorgan13)で報告した。

「まだ多くのチームが戦っている」男女平等が進み切らないサッカー界、アメリカ代表FWモーガンが女子W杯を語る「女子サッカーの成長を証明するものに」
アメリカ女子代表のFWアレックス・モーガンが、7月に開幕する女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に向けてメッセージを伝えた。イギリス『BBC』が伝えた。 モーガンは2010年にアメリカ女子代表デビュー。20歳の時にデビューを果たすと、その後アメリカのエースに成長した。 2011年、なでしこジャパンが優勝を成し遂げたドイツ女子W杯でW杯初出場。日本との決勝でもゴールを決めるなど脅威となった。 2012年にはロンドン・オリンピックで金メダル、2015年にはW杯優勝。クラブレベルでもアメリカでのプレーだけでなく、リヨンやトッテナムなどヨーロッパでもプレーを経験している。 現在は結婚し、母にもなったモーガン。W杯に向けてのインタビューでは、前回大会の前にアメリカ女子代表が男女平等を求める訴訟を起こし、2022年に合意。今回は男女平等の条件でW杯に臨むこととなる。 「私たちだけではない。まだ多くのチームが戦っている」 「私たちのチームは、同一賃金、同一賞金、同一労働条件を達成し、2019年のW杯に臨んだ時とは、ある意味異なる領域にいる」 「でも、スペインを見てみれば、このワールドカップに絶対に出場すべき選手たちが、チーム内の不平等のために出場できない人たちがいる」 アメリカは女子サッカー界では珍しい条件を掴んでいるが、ヨーロッパの強豪であるスペインでは、2022年に15選手が監督との確執により招集を拒否。その余波は残っており、今回のW杯には15人のうち3人しか参加できない。 女子サッカーの待遇改善は世界中で訴えられており、先日はジャマイカ女子代表が水準以下の支援を訴え、「とても失望している」と表明している。 国際プロサッカー選手会(FIFPRO)も女子選手が適切なメディカルチェックを受けていないということを訴え、格差がまだあることは明らかな状況となっている。 一方で、国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は男女のW杯の地位を同じにしたいと考えており、賞金や放映権など外堀を同水準にあげる準備を進めている。 結果として、放映権料が高騰し、世界中で放送が決まらない事態が生まれ、多くの国で問題は解決したが、日本ではまだ放送が決定していない状況だ。 ただ、モーガンは競技レベルを含めても、今回の女子W杯が成長していることを証明できると感じているようだ。 「今回のワールドカップはこれまでで最も注目され、最も多くの参加者が集い、最も多くの収益をもたらすものになると思う」 「FIFAがそれを尊重し、これまでよりもずっと女子サッカーを重視していることがわかり始めている。それがスポンサー、連盟、そしてサッカー界の全ての人に受け入れるようにプレッシャーをかけていると思う」 「今回のワールドカップは女子サッカーの成長を証明するものとなり、素晴らしいショーを披露できることを願っている」 規模も拡大され、年々レベルも上がっている女子サッカー。選手たちの思いが届き、多くの国で状況が改善されるか。まずはピッチ上での躍動を見せてもらいたいところだ。 2023.06.24 21:55 Sat

元なでしこ川澄奈穂美がゴッサムFCを退団…NWSL日本人初の100試合出場者「この決断はとても辛かった」

「僕が何をしたってあの男は…」トッテナムで主力に成長のDFスペンス、かつての指揮官コンテから受けた冷遇振り返り「謙虚になりすぎた」

スパーズ1年目で驚異の進化示す19歳ベリヴァルが新契約にサイン!
