元レアル・マドリーのドクターが最高のアスリートについて言及した。

世界最高峰のアスリートは誰かと問われれば、ユベントスのポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドの名を挙げる人は多いだろう。36歳となった今でも、強さ、ジャンプ力、スピードをすべて信じられないほどのレベルで備えた見本のような肉体を誇っている。

C・ロナウドは息子がポテトチップスを食べてコカ・コーラを飲んでいるのを見ると、いい気分にはならないようで、自身も先日のユーロ2020の記者会見では目の前のコーラを退けるなど、印象的な行動もとっていた。

だが、元マドリーのドクター、ヘスス・オルモ氏の考えは少々異なる様子。オルモ氏はC・ロナウドよりもレアル・マドリーのウェールズ代表FWガレス・ベイルの方がより完全なアスリートであると信じているようだ。スペイン『イデアル』に次のように語っている。

「サッカー選手の身体的パフォーマンスレベルは、他のオリンピック選手とはかけ離れている」

「ただ、今はセルヒオ・ラモスのように近づいている選手も居る。ルーカス・バスケス、クリスティアーノ・ロナウドもだ。ケイロル(・ナバス)は驚異的な瞬発力があり、(ダニエル・)カルバハルは素晴らしいコンディションを持てている」

「ただ、おそらく私が見た中で最高のアスリートはガレス・ベイルだ」

「彼はどんなスポーツでも優れた能力をできる生まれながらのアスリートだ。彼は特異な遺伝学と運動能力を持っていて、技術的な能力もある」

「パフォーマンスがあってのことだが、彼はあらゆる状況から生じるすべての面で私に最も感銘を与えた人物だ」

ベイルはマドリー時代の2017年にレアル・ソシエダ戦で75メートルを独走してのゴールを挙げ、その際に時速22マイル(約35km)というクレイジーな最高速度を記録している。かつて痩せた子供だったベイルが何年もかけて肉体の構築に取り組んできたため、オルモ氏は感銘を受けているのだろう。

C・ロナウドは破局したら毎月1600万円を支払い? 「妻」と呼んで話題のジョルジーナさんとの間に契約が発覚

スパーズがブランドリマスター発表…クラブロゴの変更やモノグラムが再導入
