イングランド代表FWマーカス・ラッシュフォードが亡き友にゴールを捧げた。

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のグループBで首位に立つイングランド代表は29日の最終節でウェールズ代表を3-0で撃破。グループステージ2勝1分け無敗で首位突破を決めた。

そんな一戦で輝きを放ったのがラッシュフォード。初戦のイラン代表戦でダメ押しの5ゴール目を記録したマンチェスター・ユナイテッドの10番は最終節で今大会初先発した。

0-0で折り返した50分に目の覚めるような直接FKを決め、先制点をもたらすと、68分にも左足でチームの3得点目。今大会の得点ランキングでも首位タイに浮上している。

圧巻のラッシュフォードだが、直接FKからのゴール時にひざまずいて天を指さすパフォーマンスを披露。ウェールズ戦を前に友人が闘病の末に帰らぬ人となってしまったようだ。

イギリス『デイリー・メール』によると、ラッシュフォードは試合後、友人であるガーフィールド・ヘイワード氏の死に直面しての一戦だったと明らかにした上で思いを馳せた。

「不幸にも、数日前に友だちの1人を亡くした。彼はかなり長いこと、がんと闘っていた。だから、彼のためにゴールを決められて嬉しいよ」

ラッシュフォードに人種差別投稿の50歳男性が逮捕される

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」
