ブラジルサッカー連盟(CBF)は7日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)に向けたメンバー26名を発表。セレソンで通算2試合の出場しかないペドロは当落線上と思われていたが、MFフィリペ・コウチーニョ(アストン・ビラ)やFWロベルト・フィルミノ(リバプール)らに代わり、最前線の1人として招集された。

テレビの前で一緒にメンバー発表の瞬間を見守っていた彼女のフェルナンダ・ノゲイラさんや母親とともに涙ながらに喜んだペドロだが、その直後にはさらなるおめでたが待っていた。

ペドロは皆の前で突然跪くと、ノゲイラさんに向けプロポーズ。2人は見事結ばれた。そんな2人を祝ってか遊んでいた愛犬もペドロの足元まで駆けつけていた。

カタールW杯でグループGに属するブラジルは、セルビア代表、スイス代表、カメルーン代表と同居。11月24日にセルビアと、同28日にスイスと、12月2日にカメルーン代表と対戦する。
