RCランスのDFジョナタン・クラウス(29)はドイツの地域リーグでトップチームのキャリアをスタートさせ、リーグ・ドゥを経て2018-19シーズンに当時ブンデスリーガ2部のアルミニア・ビーレフェルトへ加入した。翌シーズンには1部昇格を置き土産に、こちらも昇格組であるランスへと移籍。自身にとって初の欧州5大リーグ挑戦となった。

加入1年目から右サイドを主戦場にリーグ戦33試合で3得点6アシストという好記録を残し、チームの7位躍進に貢献。2021-22シーズンもここまで27試合に出場し、4得点9アシストという成績を残している。

国内屈指にまで上り詰めた攻撃的なサイドバックを、フランス代表のディディエ・デシャン監督が放っておくはずがない。17日に行われた代表メンバー発表の様子をチームメイトが撮影。緊張の面持ちで待つクラウスの名が呼ばれると、場はお祭り騒ぎに。全員が極上だと我が事のように喜び、クラウスを祝福した。
