世界的に有名な元ポルノ女優のミア・ハリファさん。現在は引退しており、インフルエンサーとして活躍しているが、実は大のサッカーファンとしても知られている。
現在29歳のミアさんは、スポーツ好きであり、特にサッカーがお気に入り。レバノン出身で、8歳の時に不安定な国内情勢の影響でアメリカへ家族と共に亡命していた。
世界的にも人気を博したミアさんはウェストハムのファンであることを公言。プレミアリーグのドリームチームを自身で組むなど、サッカーへの愛が非常に強いことでも知られている。
そのミアさんはYouTubeチャンネルの『AFTV』に出演。自身のお気に入りの現役選手3名を選ぶという企画に参加した。
しかし、ミアさんは現役選手ではなく、かつてマンチェスター・ユナイテッドでプレーし、イングランド代表のレジェンドでもあるデイビッド・ベッカムをまず挙げることに。「私は女性なのでベックスと言わざるを得ないわ」とコメント。理由が実に斬新で「12歳の時の私よりも高い声で彼が話すのを聞く度に、いつも笑わせてもらうわ。とても楽しいの」と、ベッカムの高い声がどうやらお気に入りらしい。
そして2人目に挙げたのがこれまた現役選手ではなく、ユベントスやレアル・マドリーで活躍し、フランス代表のレジェンドでもあるジネディーヌ・ジダンをピックアップした。
ジダンを選んだ理由については「ジネディーヌ・ジダンはサッカーを見てきた中で、最もエキサイティングだった」と、こちらは真面目にサッカー面でお気に入りの選手とのこと。ただ「私は暴力的なものが好きだけど、サッカーはバタバタしていて嫌になるわ。でもヘッドバッドは史上最高の瞬間だったわね」と、2006年のドイツW杯決勝でジダンがイタリア代表DFマルコ・マテラッツィに見舞った頭突きがお気に入りだという。
そして3人目に挙げたのが現役選手。唯一選ばれた現役選手はセルティックに所属し、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも出場したオーストラリア代表MFアーロン・モーイだ。
日本代表FW前田大然、MF旗手怜央、FW古橋亨梧、MF井手口陽介とチームメイトとして今シーズンプレー。かつてはウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズでMF小野伸二(北海道コンサドーレ札幌)共プレーしたことがある。
モーイを選んだ理由については、「フットボール界のカワイ・レナードのようなものね」と語り、NBAのロサンゼルス・クリッパーズに所属するバスケットボールプレーヤーに例え、「モーイはレナードのように行動する。カメラは苦手だし、ちょっとおっちょこちょいだけど、それを感じさせないわ」と語り、「わからないけど、彼を思い出すの。カワイ・レナードは良い男よ」と、またしても独特な理由で選出していた。

▽元オーストラリア代表キャプテンで、大宮アルディージャでもプレーしたDFルーカス・ニール(38)が、イギリスで破産を宣告されていた。イングランド『テレグラフ』が伝えている。
▽2014年にドンカスター・ローバーズでプレーした後に無所属となっているニールは、キャリアを通じて約4000万ドル(約42億6200万円)を稼いだとのこと。しかし、今年1月に破産を宣告されていたとのことだ。
▽『テレグラフ』によると、ニールは米国の不動産投資やシドニーでのコーチング事業を行っていたとのこと。また、ウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズのAリーグ加盟にも深く関与していたが、資金繰りが上手くいかず、返済が不可能となったようだ。
▽イングランドでプロキャリアをスタートさせたニールは、ブラックバーンで名を挙げると、ウェストハムやエバートンでもプレー。その後はガラタサライなどを経て、2013年にはJ1の大宮でもプレーした。大宮退団後はワトフォードに加入。その後ドンカスター・ローバーズへと移籍していたが、現在は無所属となっていた。

ヨーロッパ屈指の実力が認められ、女性レフェリーの歴史を塗り替えているステファニー・フラパールさんが、また1つ歴史を動かすことになるという。
フラパールさんはフランス人審判員。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にもアテンドされ、日本人の山下良美主審らと共に6人の女性審判員の1人となった。
フラパールさんは、メキシコvsポーランドで第4審判としてW杯デビューを飾ると、コスタリカvsドイツでは主審としてもデビューし、女性主審として初めて男子W杯を裁くことに。また、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子W杯でも主審として活躍を見せた。
また、ヨーロッパでもリーグ・アン、リーグ・ドゥ、チャンピオンズリーグ、UEFAスーパーカップでも審判を務めた実績がある。
そのフラパールさんは、13日に行われるイングランド代表vsオーストラリア代表の国際親善試合を担当することが決定した。これはウェンブリー・スタジアムで笛を吹く初の女性審判員となる。
イングランドサッカー協会(FA)の審判責任者であるピーター・エルズワース氏は、期待を寄せている。

財務問題が噴出したオーストラリアのAリーグだが、男子2部リーグ創設の動きは変わらないようだ。オーストラリア『news.com.au』が伝えている。
オーストラリアサッカー界の男女ともにトップディビジョンであるAリーグを巡っては、16日以降、複数の同国メディアが管轄であるオーストラリア・プロフェッショナル・リーグス(APL)の財務問題を報じ、従業員の大規模リストラを軸とした事業再編の動きが確認されている。
また、Aリーグ・コミッショナーも「Aリーグの観客動員数低迷」を主な要因とするAPLのデジタル部門廃止・リストラに向けた動きを認めたなか、Aリーグ創設当初にAPLとともにリーグ運営を行ってきたフットボール・オーストラリア(FFA/サッカー連盟)は、再び運営参加することに消極的であることも判明している。
しかし、FFAはAリーグの商業面、すなわち“運営”にこそ関与していないものの、オーストラリアのサッカー連盟としてリーグを“監督する立場”であることは言わずもがな。選手・役員登録や移籍システムなどはFFAを通して行われる。
かねてより進行してきたAリーグ・メン(男子)の2部リーグ制導入も、APLではなくFFAが主導で取り組んでおり、『news.com.au』によると、APLの財務問題に関わらず、最速で2025-26シーズンから2部リーグを創設する取り組みは続いていくという。
すでに同国で人口が集中する南東部のシドニー、メルボルンを中心に、8クラブの将来的な2部リーグ参入が認められており、さらに最大4クラブの参入が認められる可能性も。そうなると、今季のAリーグ・メンと同じく12チーム編成(※1)ということになる。
(※1)2024-25シーズンより首都キャンベラ、オークランド(ニュージーランド/越境参加)から2クラブが新規参入予定で14チーム編成に
なお、現在はAリーグ・メンが唯一のプロリーグで、2部リーグに相当するのは各州(全8州)の最上位リーグであるナショナル・プレミアリーグ(NPL)。こちらはFFA管轄のセミプロリーグとなっており、現状Aリーグ・メンへの昇格制度はない。

ウズベキスタンで行われているAFC U-23アジアカップで衝撃のゴールが誕生した。
U-21日本代表も参戦中の同大会。4日に行われたグループB第2節のU-23イラク代表vsU-23オーストラリア代表は1-1の引き分けに終わったが、前半終了間際にオーストラリアのFWアル・クオルが挙げた一撃が目を見張る。
17分という早い時間に退場者を出したU-23オーストラリア代表は前半のアディショナルタイムに右サイドからチャンスを作ると、ジョシュア・ローリンズのクロスに飛び込んだのはクオル。ボールは走り込んだ自身のやや後方への軌道となるも、前のめりの状態からでも体をそらし、右足の裏で合わせて先制点をもたらした。
アジアカップの公式インスタグラムも「バックヒール?バイシクル?それともスコーピオンキック?この魔法のようなゴールをなんて名付ければいいのか教えてください!」と、驚きをもって評している。
スーダン生まれの20歳は2021年7月にセントラル・コースト・マリナーズからシュツットガルトへと4年契約で加入した。U-21チームでプレーを続け、今冬にはブンデスリーガ2部のザントハウゼンへと今季終了までの期限付き移籍を果たしている。レンタルバック後はチェイス・アンリとプレーをする可能性もあるだろう。
ノックアウトステージでU-21日本と対戦する可能性もあるクオル。試合後のAFCへのインタビューでは快活な冗談も飛ばしている。
「走り込んだらボールが後ろへそれるのがわかったので、ほかに選択肢もないし、やってやろうと思った。当てたらはいっちゃった。神様に感謝しなくちゃ」
