アジアサッカー連盟(AFC)は13日、AFCチャンピオンズリーグ・エリート(ACLE)について、急遽大会方式の変更を発表した。
12日、2024-25シーズンのACLEのベスト8が決定。日本勢では、ヴィッセル神戸がラウンド16で敗退となったが、横浜F・マリノス、川崎フロンターレが突破し、ベスト8に残っている。
準々決勝以降はサウジアラビアでの集中開催となり、1試合制のトーナメントで全7試合が開催。4月25日から5月3日までの戦いとなる。
組み合わせ抽選会を控える中、西地区、東地区に分かれていたこれまでの戦いから、準々決勝では西地区vs東地区の戦いが組まれる。
そんな中、AFCはシードを突然決定。リーグステージの結果、西地区の1位はアル・ヒラル(サウジアラビア)、東地区の1位は横浜FMとなっているが、アル・ヒラルは横浜FMよりも良い成績を収めたために最上位のシードとなり準々決勝の第1戦に登場。横浜FMは準々決勝の第3戦に割り当てられることが決まった。
アル・ヒラルは25日の準々決勝で勝ち上がると、準決勝は29日となり中3日。横浜FMは26日に準々決勝を戦い、30日に準決勝となるため中3日。ただ、27日に試合を行う2チームは中2日での準決勝となる。
また、仮に両シードのアル・ヒラルと横浜FMが決勝に進んだ場合は、アル・ヒラルが中3日だが、横浜FMは中2日で決勝を戦うことに。アル・ヒラルが有利になる仕組みとなっている。

サウジアラビア代表エースが頭部どうしの接触で緊急搬送…幸いにも大事に至らず

デ・ブライネがサウジアラビア移籍について言及…年俸は117.8億円?「信じられないほどの金額を稼げる」
