昨夏ベンフィカへステップアップを果たしたニクラス・ベステは、今シーズンここまで公式戦22試合2ゴール2アシストを記録。左サイドのバックアップを担っていたが、同胞のロジャー・シュミット監督の解任の影響もあって序列が低下していたなか、わずか半年での母国復帰を選択した。
ドルトムントの下部組織出身でブレーメンにも在籍したベステは、ドイツの年代別代表の常連ではあったものの、なかなかトップカテゴリーでは芽が出ず。オランダのFCエメン、ドイツ3部のヤーン・レーゲンスブルクへの武者修行を経て2022年夏に当時2.ブンデスリーガ(ドイツ2部)のハイデンハイムに完全移籍した。
