殊勲の2発も英語を話せず…ヌニェスへのスペイン語インタビューが反響、ヒーローの声を届けた美人レポーターに賛辞集まる

英語を話せないというダルウィン・ヌニェス

リバプールのウルグアイ代表FWダルウィン・ヌニェスへの「スペイン語インタビュー」が、イギリスで反響を呼んでいるという。

ヌニェスは18日、プレミアリーグ第22節・ブレントフォード戦で途中出場から2得点。去就報道などで試合前から注目が集まっていたなか、リバプールに2-0勝利をもたらした。

問答無用のヒーローということで、試合直後に現地での放映局『スカイ』がインタビューへ。

しかし、スペイン語圏ウルグアイの出身、イギリス在住2年半ほどのヌニェス。実は英語をほとんど話せないそうで、こういった選手はプレミアリーグの試合で活躍しても、水面下でインタビューを拒否することが珍しくない。

それでも、この日はどうしたってヌニェス。

『スカイ』はブラジル出身でスペイン語も堪能なジャーナリスト、ナタリー・ゲドラさんをこの試合でスタンバイさせており、ゲドラさんはヌニェスにごくごく簡単な英語とスペイン語を織り交ぜてインタビューした。

普段あまりインタビューに登場しないヌニェスとあって、これだけでも現地のSNSユーザーが盛り上がったそうだが、ゲドラさんはヌニェスが母語で紡いだアツイ気持ちを英語に翻訳。

ヌニェスとのやりとりを終えたあと、ゲドラさんはインタビュー全体を総括した。

「彼(ヌニェス)は『決して諦めない』と言いました。ゴールを決めるのに苦労しているのなら、もっともっと努力する…と。自らが難しい時期を過ごしているとの自覚、リバプールのために全力を注ぐ覚悟を感じました。今日の2得点は彼にとって良いものとなったはずです」

この日リバプールファンを喜ばせたのはヌニェスだが、ゲドラさんのファンになる人も。

SNS上では「スカイの新しいレポーター?素晴らしいインタビューだった」「スペイン語圏の選手の声が今後はもっと聞けるかも」「敬意に値するインタビュアーとスカイの準備」等々、ゲドラさんと『スカイ』に賛辞が贈られた。
