これでスペインの2位以内が確定し、スコットランドとともに本大会行きが決定。デ・ラ・フエンテ監督はノルウェー戦をこう振り返っている。

「我々が最も満足して帰ることができる試合の1つ。素晴らしい成熟ぶりを見せられたよ。最初から最後まで試合を支配した。非常に落ち着いた試合運びだったね」

また、「幸せだし、満足だ。想像してみてほしい。チームは成長している」と語り、しばらく自分たちのフットボールに集中できると続けた。

「我々は団結しているし、それが表れてもいる。ここまで懸命に働いた。やり遂げた仕事に満足だ。これは我々の務めであり、責任だったんだ。非常に嬉しいが、大事なのはバランス。これで自分たちのフットボールだけを語れるし、考えられる。それがみんなにとって一番良いことだ」

「まず開催されるかわからない」南米王者アルゼンチンの指揮官がフィナリッシマに言及、欧州王者スペインと対戦も「来年は確実に難しい」

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
