フィリピン女子代表に歴史的な1勝をもたらしたFWサリナ・ボールデンへ、元チームメイトからも祝福が届いた。

フィリピンは25日、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)グループA第2節で、ニュージーランド女子代表とウェリントン・リージョナル・スタジアムで対戦した。

男女通じてW杯初出場となるフィリピンは、初戦のスイス女子代表戦で0-2と黒星。初勝ち点、初得点を懸けて臨んだ今節は、24分にFKの二次攻撃からボールデンが高さを活かしたヘディングシュートを叩き込み、先制。母国に記念すべきW杯初ゴールをもたらすと、終盤はホスト国の猛攻を受けるも、守護神にもビッグセーブが飛び出すなどし、逃げ切り勝ち。ハードワークを続けたフィリピンが待望のW杯初勝利を手にした。

殊勲のゴールを挙げたボールデンは、昨季途中までWEリーグのちふれASエルフェン埼玉でプレー。2021年7月に加入し、リーグ戦・カップ戦を含めて通算14試合に出場していた。試合後にはそのEL埼玉の選手たちからも、祝福の動画メッセージが届けられた。

また、ボールデンのほかMFクインリー・クエザダも2021-22シーズンにジェフユナイテッド市原・千葉レディースに在籍。元WEリーガーが歴史的勝利の一端を担った。

フィリピンの属するグループAはスイスが1勝1分けの勝ち点「4」で首位、最下位のノルウェーが1分け1敗の勝ち点「1」と、大混戦の様相を呈している。突破チームはラウンド16でグループCの上位と対戦するため、なでしこジャパンにとっても気になる状況だ。

最終節ではそのノルウェー女子代表と30日に対戦するフィリピン。グループステージ突破の可能性やなでしことの顔合わせについても注目が集まる。

WEリーグ“埼玉ダービー”のトロフィーデザインが決定!「彩」の字と数字の「1」を基にしたシンプルなデザインに

「狙ってこれは超ゴラッソ!」EL埼玉のルーキー、WEデビュー戦で直接CK弾の栃谷美羽に脚光「今後の活躍が楽しみ」
