ヨーロッパリーグ(EL)で起きたVARの判定について議論が加熱している。事件は16日に行われたEL決勝トーナメントプレーオフ・1stレグのナント戦で起こった。
1-1で迎えた後半アディショナルタイム、ナントのDFセバスティアン・コルシアがユベントスのDFグレイソン・ブレーメルと競り合った。
この際にコルシアが上げた手にボールが当たっていた中、VARチェック。主審はオンフィールド・レビューを行ったが、なんとPKを与えずにブレーメルのファウルを取った。
土壇場での勝ち越しチャンスを奪われたユベントスは激怒。しかし、試合後の会見でマッシミリアーノ・アッレグリ監督は「文句を言っても無駄だ」とコメント。不満がありながらも判定が覆るわけではないとした。
また、『CBS Sports』もこの件を分析。ユベントスにPKを与えるべきだとの見解を示した。
「これはハンドだ。100%であり、ブースのVAR関係者も同じことを考えていただろう」
最終的には主審の判定が最優先されるため、全て決めたのは主審。ただ、なかなか納得がいく判定とは言えないこととなった。
