リバプールのユルゲン・クロップ監督は、ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン戦のパフォーマンスを酷評した。クラブ公式サイトが伝えている。

リバプールは14日、プレミアリーグ第20節でブライトンのホームに乗り込んでの一戦。序盤から相手にペースを握られると、前半をゴールレスで終えるも、試合を折り返して46分に相手MFソリー・マーチに先制ゴールを許してしまう。

53分にも再びマーチに決められると、その後も反撃の糸口はつかめず。81分には相手FWダニー・ウェルベックにダメ押しの3点目を奪われ、0-3と完敗した。
前節ブレントフォード戦に続く連敗で順位も9位まで落ちたリバプール。クロップ監督は試合後、対戦相手を称えつつ、自らのチームとのパフォーマンスの差を嘆いた。

「ブライトンにおめでとうと言いたい。彼らは素晴らしい試合をした。全体的に見れば、彼らのプレーは素晴らしく、我々はそうではなかった」
「我々はうまくいく場面もあったし、相手にプレッシャーをかけることもできた。しかし、どの場面でもボールを奪うと、その次の瞬間に簡単にボールを失ってしまっていた。それが一番の問題で、このままでは全てが上手くいかないだろう」

「ブライトンは90分を通して良かったが、ハーフタイムの時点でスコアはゴールレスだった。我々にとっては良いハーフタイムを過ごす必要があった。しかし、後半は明らかに最悪のスタートとなった。相手は本当に良い姿勢で戦う準備ができていて、何かを得るために努力していた。結果はすでに明らかだった」

また、惨敗に終わった一戦を振り返り、過去最低の試合だったと酷評。この結果は指揮を執った自らの責任だとも語った。

「まだ試合が終わって数分しか経っていないからかも言えることかもしれないが、これほどひどい試合は記憶にない」

「正直に言って選手たちのことだけでなく、すべてのことが頭に浮かばない状況だ。しかし、それは私の責任だ。現時点では本当に最低の試合だと思う。それはハッキリと感じている」

クロップ監督がかつての“右腕“と決別した理由明かす「関係がうまくいかなくなった」

単独投入という“粋な演出”から浮かび上がる、遠藤航とスロット監督の信頼関係

指揮官と確固たる信頼を築いていることを示す凱旋試合だった。 リバプールは「明治安田Jリーグワールドチャレンジ2025」で横浜F・マリノスと対戦。0ー1とリードを追いかける60分、6万7千人以上が駆けつけたスタジアムの歓声が一際大きくなる。 タッチライン沿いで提示されたボードには、4と3の数字が点灯している。オランダ代表のファン・ダイクと交代してピッチに入るのは、日本代表の遠藤航だった。 背番号4が腕に巻いていたキャプテンマークを手に持ち変えて歩み寄ってくると、遠藤は差し出した左腕でそれを受け取った。日本代表のキャプテンが、世界最高峰のクラブのキャプテンとして地元である神奈川県のピッチに足を踏み入れたのだ。 プレシーズンに行われる親善試合では、プレータイムを管理するという目的が含まれていることが多い。そのため、一度に複数の選手が交代することが通例になっており、いわゆる“総取っ替え”が当たり前になっている。だが、遠藤だけは違った。他の選手が同時投入される中、1人だけ単独で投入されたのだ。 観客の視線が遠藤だけに集まるような交代は、アルネ・スロット監督からの粋な演出だったようだ。 「(交代の仕方については)監督にハーフタイムで言われましたね。僕はみんなと一緒に入るかなと思っていたんですけど、たぶん監督も僕に気を遣ってくれてというか。試合が終わった後に、自分の昨シーズンの出場機会がない中でも常に全力でやる姿勢だったりを評価して、そこへのリスペクトを持って自分にそういう対応をしたという話をしてくれたので、そこはうれしかったです」 センターバックは本職ではないが、昨シーズンもカップ戦などで起用されたポジションだ。跳躍力を生かした力強いヘディングでのクリアや危機察知能力の高さを生かしたインターセプト、カバーリングで出場した30分を完封。さらに、ピッチに立ってから3得点が生まれ、チームは逆転勝利を収めた。 「別に僕は何もしてないですけど」と謙遜しつつ、「でも、スタジアムの雰囲気を変える意味では、ああやって僕が入ったことは良いポイントになったのかなと思うし、結果的に最後は勝てたことが良かったです」と胸をなで下ろした。 昨季プレミアリーグでは20試合に出場したものの途中出場がメインで、プレータイムはわずか260分。全コンペティションを合計しても32試合で865分と、出場機会は非常に限定的だった。試合終盤に投入され、リードを守り切るクローザーのような役割を与えられていたのだ。 置かれている状況やチーム内での立場を含め、昨季終了直後は退団の噂も海を渡って聞こえてきた。だが、遠藤は自身の役割を全うすることでリーグ優勝に貢献した事実に誇りを感じ、覚悟を持って“再現”を目指す構えだ。 「もう1回またプレミアのタイトルは取りたいと思っているし、その他のチャンピオンズリーグやカップ戦、獲れるタイトルは全部獲りたいと思っているし、たぶんそれくらいの気持ちでみんな意気込んで今季に挑んでいくと思う。タイトルを獲るのは簡単ではないこともしっかりと自分たちの中で受け入れながらというか、そこはしっかりと地に足をつけてやらなきゃいけないのかなと思っているので、自分はそこにチームの一員としてしっかりと貢献することをまた第一にやっていければいいのかなと思います。(昨季の)1年を同じ監督でやって、たぶん監督も今は僕のことをよくわかってくれていると思うし、もちろん僕も監督のことはわかっている。そういった意味ではまた違ったシーズンになるんじゃないかなっていうような思いでもありますけどね」 W杯を控えた今季も自分ならではの信頼をより強固なものにしながら、世界最高峰の舞台を戦っていく。 2025.07.31 18:00 Thu
