カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場したイングランド代表。将来性のある若手選手が多く起用され、1966年以来の優勝を目指した。

前回大会は4位に終わっていた中、今大会はグループステージを首位通過。ラウンド16ではセネガル代表を下し、準々決勝では前回大会王者のフランス代表と対戦した。

しかし、試合は1-2で敗戦。キャプテンでエースのFWハリー・ケインがPKを失敗したことが響いての敗退となった。

自身もW杯優勝敗経験していないベッカム氏。インスタグラムを更新し、“スリーライオンズ”への賛辞を送り、4年後に成熟するであろうチームへのエールを送った。

元祖“ワンダーボーイ”でリバプール唯一のバロンドーラー、マイケル・オーウェン

「主要トーナメントで優勝」イングランド代表が監督を公募も条件が高すぎる…すでに多数の候補者がいる中でも敢えて一般募集「ご応募お待ちしております」

サウスゲイト監督の後任探すイングランド代表…FAはポステコグルー監督を高く評価
