クロアチア代表のズラトコ・ダリッチ監督とMFルカ・モドリッチが、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)準々決勝のブラジル代表戦へ向けて意気込みを語った。

決勝トーナメント1回戦で120分の激闘の末にPK戦で日本代表に勝利したクロアチア。明日のブラジル戦に向けて、前日会見に出席したダリッチ監督は、チームの自信と目標を語った。

｢明日の試合は2018年の決勝戦に匹敵する。ブラジルのような強豪国とはもう少し後で対戦したかったが、我々は常に高い志を持っている｣
｢ブラジルとの準々決勝に勝るモチベーションはない。誰もがこの試合を楽しみにしているし、ブラジルがサッカー界でどんな存在であるかは知っている。ただ、クロアチアも世界のベスト8に入っていることを忘れてはいけないし、もっと上を目指したいと思っている｣

同席したキャプテンのMFルカ・モドリッチは、｢ラウンド16の日本戦では、僕らの精神的な強さを証明できた。この試合は僕らに自信を与えてくれたし、僕らは再びそれを実現できると思っている｣とコメント。
また、今大会で代表から身を引くかと問われると｢いつまで代表チームでプレーすることになるのかわからないが、今はワールドカップに100%集中している。将来についてはその後に考えることになるだろう。できるだけ遅くなることを願っている｣

クロアチア代表のズラトコ・ダリッチ監督が、PK戦の末に敗れたフランス代表戦を振り返った。 クロアチアは23日、UEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)2024-25のファイナルズ・準々決勝2ndレグでフランスに0-2で敗戦。2戦合計2-2で延長戦、PK戦までもつれ込んだ激闘に敗れてベスト4進出を逃した。 MFイバン・ペリシッチの1ゴール1アシストの活躍によって1stレグを2-0で先勝し、アドバンテージを持って臨んだ敵地での2ndレグ。戦前の予想通り、立ち上がりからアグレッシブに攻勢を仕掛けたフランスの攻撃を受ける展開に。 前半は粘りの守備で無失点となったが、後半は中2日の厳しいコンディションの影響もあって耐え切れずに2失点。2戦合計スコアで追いつかれたなか、以降は割り切った守備的な戦いで延長戦、PK戦まで持ち込むことに成功した。 そのPK戦ではPKにめっぽう強い守護神ドミニク・リヴァコビッチがセーブはならずも、相手キッカーに圧力をかける形で2度の失敗を誘発。一方、若手中心で臨んだ弊害か、相手守護神に2本のセーブを許すなど、3度の失敗によって競り負けた。 同試合後、ダリッチ監督はクロアチア『Sportske novosti』で「フランスを祝福したい。彼らの方が優れたチームだったし、我々の選手たちは全力を尽くした」と潔く敗退を受け入れた。 「我々は防戦一方の展開にしたくなかったが、相手にそうさせられた。我々はできる限り戦い、最大限の力を出し、PK戦までたどり着いたが、運が味方してくれなかった。我々はPKを3本外し、リヴァコビッチは2本を防げそうだったが、仕方がない」 「パワー、エネルギー、強さ、スピードがあまりなかった…。自分や選手を責めるつもりはない。我々は最大限の力を出し、PK戦までたどり着いたが、その優位性はなかった。これが我々の最大限の力であり、受け入れなければならない。このような相手と対戦するのは厳しい」 また、後半の早いタイミングでMFルカ・モドリッチをベンチに下げた采配に関しては、「モドリッチは疲れ果てており、交代を待っている間に2点目を許してしまった。多くの選手を交代する必要があったが、最後まで戦った。状況がそうさせたのだ」と中2日の日程面、防戦一方の展開によってそうせざるを得なかったと説明している。 3人が失敗したPK戦の人選についても指揮官は「誰が一番準備ができているか尋ねたところ、5人の選手がすぐに立ち上がった。それが彼らの決断だった。非難することはない。彼らは責任を取った」と、勇敢に名乗りを挙げた選手たちを擁護している。 これでUNLベスト8敗退という結果となったヴァトレニ。しかし、指揮官はリーグA首位フィニッシュという結果自体が素晴らしいものだとポジティブに受け止め、2026年北中米ワールドカップの本選出場に向けて気持ちを切り替えた。 「我々の目標はグループリーグを突破することで、それを達成した。それ以降はすべてボーナスだった。PK戦に持ち込み、ヨーロッパのトップ8入りを果たした」 「選択肢はネーションズリーグ準決勝でスペインと対戦するか、予選1回戦でジブラルタルと対戦するかのどちらかだったが、結局ジブラルタルと対戦することになった。次の目標はワールドカップ出場権を得ることだ」 2025.03.24 11:15 Mon

「この4年間もできる限りのことをやってきたつもりですが、これでも足りなかったという現実がある」 そう語ったのはカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で日本代表のゴールを4試合守り抜き、ビッグセーブ連発で沸かせたGK権田修一(清水エスパルス)だった。 「新しい景色」と題して、ベスト8進出を目標に掲げて戦ってきた日本代表。4年前の2018年、ロシアの地での劇的な敗戦から、その壁を打ち破るべく準備を進めてきた。しかし、4度目の挑戦となったラウンド16で、日本はクロアチア代表と対戦。前回大会の準優勝国を相手に立ち向かった中、最後はPK戦で決着。またしても、壁を打ち破ることはできなかった。 「選手たちは新時代を見せてくれたと思います」と試合後に口にした森保監督。その言葉通り、“死の組”とも言われたグループステージでW杯王者のドイツ代表、スペイン代表を下しての首位通過を果たした。まさに新時代が来たと言っても良いだろう。この2試合の勝利は、偶然でもまぐれでもなかった。 ただ、その2チームに勝てたチームは、クロアチアの前に敗れた。もちろん実力は相手の方が上。決して楽観視をしていたこともないだろう。ただ、森保監督は自分たちのスタイルを出して真っ向勝負に挑むことを選択。ドイツやスペイン以上に、前半はやりたいことをやれていたはずだ。それでも、壁は打ち破れなかったわけだが、それには大きな違いがあった。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆日本に対するリスペクト</span> あのパスが、あのシュートが…と言い出せばキリがない。それは、日本に限らず、どの国にもあること。細かい技術的な部分、そして戦術的な部分でもああしておけば、ということはいくらでも言える。そこを指摘し始めたらキリがなく、選手も監督もレベルアップするしかないという結論でしかない。 では何が足りなかったのか。そして何が違ったのか。1つは、日本代表に対する感情だといえる。 試合前、クロアチア代表のズラトコ・ダリッチ監督は「我々は相手が誰であり、彼らのメンタリティを知っている。さらに先に進みたいのであれば、全く同じ態度を示さなければいけない」とコメント。「我々は最善を尽くし、誰も過小評価しない。対戦相手に最大限の敬意を払い、どちらがより優れたチームであるかを見ていきたい」と日本について語っていた。 この発言が出た理由は2つあると考えられ、1つはドイツとスペインに勝ったという事実、そしてもう1つがクロアチア代表の特徴でもある、規律を重んじ、勇敢に戦い、努力を怠らないというものだ。 世界中の誰もが驚いたドイツとスペインに対する勝利。これにより、当然ながらクロアチアは日本への警戒心が高まったはずだ。初戦だったドイツ、コスタリカに負けた姿を見たスペインは、少なからず日本に対するマイナスの評価があったはず。それは試合中のプレーにも見られ、ドイツでは浅野拓磨のゴール時の守備、スペインでは後半立ち上がりの警戒心の薄さにも出ている。 ただ、クロアチアにはその様子はなかった。チームとしてしっかりと日本に対してプレーを続け、緩むシーンはほとんどなかったと言えるだろう。 そしてもう1つが、リスペクトが故の戦い方の変化だ。これこそがドイツとスペインにはなく、クロアチアにあったものと言える。 クロアチアはパスを繋いでいく一方で、ロングボールを多用して日本のゴールに迫った。また、両サイドからのクロス、ロングスローを利用して高さを生かしてプレーしてきた。 日本はなんとか対応していたものの、後半には一瞬の隙を突かれて失点。それも鋭いクロスからのヘディングだった。日本をリスペクトすることでしっかりと日本を分析して攻め手を変えること。そして、これまで以上に途中出場の三笘薫(ブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン)がケアされたことを考えても、クロアチアがいかに日本に対してしっかりと対策を練っていたかが窺い知れる。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆優秀な選手をいかに輩出、そして育てるか</span> そして簡単には行かない違いで言えば、選手を生み出す土壌だ。クロアチアはW杯の歴史としては1998年のフランス大会が初出場。日本代表とW杯デビューは一緒だ。 グループステージでも対戦した中で日本は敗戦。グループステージで敗退となったが、クロアチアは3位という好成績を残した。2006年のドイツ大会でも日本はグループステージで同居して0-0のドロー。共にグループステージで敗退した。 その後、2010年は予選敗退、2014年はグループステージ敗退と結果を残せていなかったが、2018年のロシア大会では準優勝という成績を残した。 クロアチアは旧ユーゴスラビア圏の国。独立したことでクロアチアとなったが、予てから優秀な選手の宝庫だった。もちろん土壌も違い、相手は列強が揃うヨーロッパを舞台に常に戦っているという差はあるが、出てきた才能を伸ばし、トップクラスの選手たちを育成したという点がクロアチアが積み上げてきたものだ。 日本がいきなりヨーロッパの国のようになることはなく、100年経っても追いつけないことかもしれない。ただ、選手たちが常日頃から高いレベルのサッカーを経験し、それもトップクラスでレベルアップに力を注いでいる。W杯に出場してからの24年のサイクルで間違いなく成長している。日本の育成も間違いなく進化しており、高みを目指している動きは確実にある。 4大会連続でW杯に出場した長友佑都(FC東京)は「日本人の戦う魂は見せられたと思うし、負けてしまって残念ですけど、日本サッカーは確実に成長しているなと僕は感じています」とコメント。他の選手も成長を口にした。着実に歩みを進めている中で、これをしっかり継続していくことが、“新しい景色”に導くはず。「何かを変えなければいけないですし、チェンジではなくアップデートしていく必要がある」と権田も語ったが、経験を積み上げて、どうアップデートしていくか。選手個々も、サッカー協会、そして指導者も、一歩ずつ近づいていく必要があるだろう。 <span class="paragraph-subtitle">◆今回の経験を糧にできるか</span> 2000年のシドニー・オリンピック、2002年の日韓W杯を率いたフィリップ・トルシエ監督以来、20年ぶりにA代表と五輪代表の監督を兼務した森保一監督。4年前の悲劇をコーチとして現場で見てきた指揮官は、数多くの批判の中、強かに準備を進めた。 2つの世代を融合し、1チーム2カテゴリーと話していたが、結果として東京五輪世代から9名がメンバー入り。そしてゴールを決めた4人のうち3人が東京五輪世代だった。 東京五輪でメダルを逃した悔しさを生かしてスペインにも立ち向かい勝利。目標としたベスト8には手が届かなかったが、あと一歩にまで再び迫った。 4年前のベルギー戦のように、最後にやられることもなかった。あとは経験値にできるかどうか。クロアチアは4年前の準優勝時に3試合延長戦まで突入し、2試合がPK戦。全てに勝利して決勝に辿り着いていた。 一方で、日本のメンバーは19名が初めてのW杯。ラウンド16を経験したのは6人しかいない。その経験の差は大きいと言える。そしてそこがベスト8に行くために必要になってくるものだろう。 着実に一歩ずつ進んでいる。クロアチアに対して真っ向勝負を挑むことを選択肢、120分間は戦えた。ただ、仕留めることはできず、PK戦でも3本も止められた。この事実を受け止めながらも、4試合で得た経験、そして成果と課題をどう生かすのか。多くの人の心を動かしたSAMURAI BLUEに感謝すると共に、その感情を4年後まで盛り上げ続けてくれることに期待したい。 《超ワールドサッカー編集部・菅野剛史》 2022.12.06 15:40 Tue
