オーストラリア代表の選手たちが1人のファンに変貌した。3日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のラウンド16でアルゼンチン代表と対戦したオーストラリア。持ち前の堅守でアルゼンチンに対抗していったもののリオネル・メッシに先制点を奪われると、最後まで善戦したものの1-2で敗れた。
素晴らしい試合を繰り広げた両者だったが、試合後のロッカールームには微笑ましい光景が広がっていた。
周囲を見渡しソワソワしている様子のオーストラリアの選手たち。彼らが探していたのはついさっきまでピッチで戦っていたメッシの姿だった。
メッシを見つけた選手たちは続々と記念撮影。自身のスマートフォンのカメラロールに入った貴重な1枚にご満悦の様子だった。
なお、オーストラリア戦はメッシにとってキャリア通算1000試合目のメモリアルゲーム。この記念すべき日のユニフォームは、若手のキャメロン・デブリンがゲットしている。

メッシが小走りで駆け寄り…PSGとバルセロナの“先輩”ロナウジーニョと再会「嬉しそう」

大宮でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表キャプテンDFニールが破産

「観客動員が少ない!」オーストラリア・Aリーグが従業員の半数解雇で事業再編へ…今季の平均観客動員数最多はシドニーFCで「1万4097人」

財務危機のオーストラリア・Aリーグだが…最速で25-26シーズンから男子2部リーグ制導入の動き変わらず

シュウォーツァーにライアン…GKの宝庫オーストラリアが新たに輩出した23歳ガウチ、プレミアリーグ挑戦へ誓い
