3位エクアドルと首位ブラジルという上位対決としても注目を浴びた同試合。すでに本戦出場を決めているブラジルが開始6分にMFカゼミロのゴールで先制する展開となる。
だが、試合はここからまさかの方向へ向かう。15分にエクアドルGKアレクサンデル・ドミンゲスが、飛び出してきたブラジルFWマテウス・クーニャに足裏キックを見舞ってしまい一発退場となると、その5分後にブラジルもDFエメルソンが2枚目のイエローカードを受けて退場に。開始20分で両チームとも10人となってしまった。
さらに、26分にエクアドルのカウンターを防ぐべく、ブラジルGKアリソン・ベッカーがペナルティエリアを飛び出してボールをクリアしたところ、その蹴り上げた足が相手FWエネル・バレンシアの顔面に入り、レッドカードが提示された。
ところがVARで確認した結果、アリソンは先にボールクリアを完了させていたとして、レッドカードからイエローカードに変更された。

「なぜ揃えなかった?」ブラジル代表の新ユニフォームはバランスが良くない?エンブレムが中央に配置され左右非対称に「ナイキのロゴも寄せてくれ」

ロナウドが日韓W杯での“大五郎カット”を謝罪、奇抜な髪型の裏事情とは?
