リバプールで構想外のカリウス…GKコーチからは移籍のススメ「才能を生かしたキャリアを築く必要がある」

リバプールでGKコーチを務めるジョン・アフテルベルグ氏が、チームで構想外となっている元ドイツ代表GKロリス・カリウスに移籍を薦めた。イギリス『ミラー』が伝えている。

2016年夏にマインツからリバプールへ加入したカリウスは、当初こそ新守護神候補として高い期待が寄せられていたが、不安定なパフォーマンスが続いたこともありクラブは2018年夏にブラジル代表GKアリソン・ベッカーを獲得。守護神の座を奪われたカリウスは、ベシクタシュ、ウニオン・ベルリンへレンタル移籍をしたものの、いずれのクラブでも完全移籍にまではつながらなかった。

今夏はリバプールに残留したカリウスだが、チームではアリソン、GKクィービーン・ケレハー、GKアドリアンより序列が下の扱いとなっており、今シーズンは1度もベンチ入りしていない。

事実上の構想外となっているカリウスとリバプールの契約は今夏で満了を迎えるが、イギリス『The Athletic』のインタビューを受けたアフテルベルグ氏は、今月中にも移籍すべきだと強調。貴重な選手としての半年間を、無駄にすべきではないと語った。

「最終的には本人、代理人、そしてクラブが解決策を見出すしかないね。この問題が今月中に解決できることを願っている」

「このまま6カ月間、自分が本当に何かを求めて戦っているという実感を持てずにいることは、誰の助けにもならないだろう。そしてそれは、彼を向上させる助けにもならない」

「彼は今、自分の才能を生かしたキャリアを築く必要がある。ロリスにはたくさんの良いクオリティがあるのだ。とはいえ、もし何もなければ彼は契約満了まで我々と練習するだろう」

「もしロリスがいなくなったら、またアカデミーから一人連れてくることになるだろうね。我々は常に、次に台頭するかもしれない選手を探しているんだ」

「我々の目標は、自分たちのGKを作り続けることだ。そのためには、スカウティングや彼らを見つけて育てるための仕事のやり方を改善し続ける必要がある」

▽世界各国のフットボールシーンにおいて、熱狂的なサポーターを抱えることで知られるクラブがいくつかある。日本を代表する熱狂的なサポーターと言えば、浦和レッズサポーターだが、『Fox Sports』が選ぶ『世界の熱狂的なサポーター5選』に見事選ばれた。 ▽浦和が選ばれた『世界の熱狂的なサポーター5選』には、リーベル・プレート(アルゼンチン)、ガラタサライ(トルコ)、リバプール(イングランド)、バルセロナ(スペイン)が入っており、浦和サポーターは世界でも“熱狂的”なファンで知られるクラブと肩を並べることとなった。 ▽浦和については「Jリーグの20シーズン中、14シーズンで最高の平均入場者数を誇り、サポーターが作る最高のコレオグラフィーがある」と紹介。「次東京に行く際は、埼玉スタジアムでの試合を観て欲しい」と、観戦を勧めている。以下、4クラブのサポーターの特徴を紹介。 ◆リーベル・プレート(アルゼンチン) ▽リーベル・プレートは、アルゼンチンで最もサポーターが多いクラブの1つで、ボカ・ジュニアーズとの激しいライバル関係は有名だ。ロス・ミジョナリオス(億万長者)の愛称でも知られ、ボカ・ジュニアーズとのダービーは、死人が出るほどの激しい試合になるとも言われている。 ◆ガラタサライ(トルコ) ▽ガラタサライは、ファンの大声援が地響きを起こすとも称されるほど。悪名高い「Wellcome to Hell(地獄へようこそ)」というバナーは広く知られている。1993年のマンチェスター・ユナイテッド戦、2001年のパリ・サンジェルマン戦ではサポーターが衝突し、まさに“地獄”となってしまった。 ◆リバプール(イングランド) ▽サポーターを「12人目の男」と考えるリバプール。「You'll Never Walk Alone」の大合唱は有名であり、スタジアムが素晴らしい雰囲気で包まれる。2005年のチャンピオンズリーグ決勝のミラン戦では、ビハインドで迎える後半にサポーターの大声援が選手の背中を後押しし、逆転での優勝に繋がったとも。 ◆バルセロナ(スペイン) ▽かつては「ソシオ」がチームを支えるほど、サポーターとの関係が重要視されているバルセロナ。近年、胸スポンサーを入れるようになったが、それまではサポーターの会員費と入場料収入でクラブは運営されていた。かつて、レアル・マドリーへ禁断の移籍をしたルイス・フィーゴが凱旋した時には、豚の頭が投げ込まれるほど熱狂的だ。 2017.10.12 22:45 Thu
