現役時代に“フェノメノ(怪物)”と称された、史上最も偉大なストライカーの1人である元ブラジル代表FWのロナウド氏。クルゼイロ、PSVを経て、1996年夏に加入したバルセロナの1年目には、当時のサー・ボビー・ロブソン監督が「私の戦術はロナウド」と発言するほどのプレーを見せ、公式戦49試合47ゴール7アシストと圧倒的な数字を叩きだした。その中でも圧巻だったのが、今から25年前の1996年10月12日に行われたラ・リーガ第7節コンポステラ戦でのゴールだ。
バルセロナの2点リードで迎えた前半36分、センターサークル付近でボールを奪ったロナウドは、相手選手に掴まれながらも、持ち前のパワーとスピードで強引に突破すると、そのままスピードで相手を振り切りボックス内まで侵入。最後は追いかけてきたディフェンス2人を切り返しで抜き去り、シュートを決めた。
このゴールは多くの人の頭に記憶されるとともに、ロナウド氏自身にとっても強く印象に残っているようで、以前のインタビューでは「本当に美しい特別なゴールだった。パワーとテクニックに加え、ものすごいスプリントを見せたプレーだった」と語っている。25年が経った今も多くの海外メディアがこのゴールを取り上げ、ファンからも「ロナウドが一番好き」「超常現象」「史上最高のストライカー」「この頃のスピードは無敵」とその活躍を懐かしむ声が多く集まっている。

ロナウドが日韓W杯での“大五郎カット”を謝罪、奇抜な髪型の裏事情とは?

ラミン・ヤマルがキングスリーグに参戦! ヴィニシウスと共に新シーズン目玉に
