スペインは10日に行われたUEFAネーションズリーグ・ファイナルズ決勝でフランス代表と対戦。一進一退の攻防が続く中、スペインは64分にFWミケル・オヤルサバルのゴールで先制に成功する。しかし、その2分後に失点すると、80分にはオフサイドのようにも見えたFWキリアン・ムバッペのゴールが認められ、そのまま1-2で敗れた。UEFAネーションズリーグを準優勝で終えることとなり、トロフィーを獲得できなかった結果に対して、試合後のインタビューに応じたエンリケ監督はチームの発揮したパフォーマンスに満足していると強調。強敵相手に自分たちのスタイルを貫けたと誇っている。
「我々はトロフィーを持たず帰ることになったが、クオリティ、フィジカル、ポテンシャルを備えた現世界王者と互角に戦えたと思う。立ち上がりは苦労したが、アグレッシブにゲームを進められた。リードしたものの、すぐ同点にされ、息つく暇を与えてもらえなかったね」

「外からこの試合を見たときの気持ちはわからない。だが、フランスのような素晴らしいチームを相手にとてもよく競い合ったと思う。だから、選手やファンが悲しげな表情を浮かべているのは良くないね」
「私がこの大会から得たものは、自分たちのゲームをするうえで、誰と対戦するかは問題ではないということだ。そしてスペインでは、チームが自分たちの持っているカードを駆使してスタイルを貫くことを評価しないファンはいないだろう」

また、エンリケ監督は決勝ゴールとなったムバッペのゴールシーンにも言及。オフサイドだったという考えは変えないとしつつ、判定について触れるつもりはないと語った。

「私がベンチから見る限り、あのゴールはオフサイドに見えたがね。ただ、私は自分がコントロールできないことについては話さないという考えを貫くつもりだ」

女子W杯2023、視聴者数が世界各国で記録的な数字に! イングランドやスペインはもちろん中国でも

なでしこ田中美南のスペイン戦圧巻弾もノミネート!女子W杯2023ベストゴールの投票が開始に

「まだ泣くの早いって」と本田圭佑にツッコまれた日本代表サポーター、元Jリーガーの親友だった「親友が世界的にバズってて最高」
