アーセナルは20日、レアル・マドリーのノルウェー代表MFマルティン・ウーデゴール(22)を完全移籍で獲得することで合意したことを発表した。
背番号はミケル・アルテタ監督が現役時代に着用し、昨シーズンまでマドリーからレンタル移籍していたMFダニ・セバージョスが背負っていた「8」をつける。
イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によると移籍金は3000万ポンド(約44億8200万円)に加えてボーナスが支払われるようだ。なお、移籍完了はビザの発行を条件とされ、22日のプレミアリーグ第2節のチェルシー戦には出場できない。
類稀なる逸材として16歳の2015年1月に母国のストレームスゴトセトからマドリーへと加入したウーデゴール。2017年1月にファーストチームへと昇格するも、なかなか出場機会を得ることができなかった。
これまでヘーレンフェーン、フィテッセ、レアル・ソシエダとレンタル移籍を繰り返し、2020-21シーズン後半はアーセナルへとレンタル移籍。マドリーでは公式戦11試合にしか出られていないウーデゴールだが、それぞれのクラブでは主軸としてプレーしてきた。

アーセナル、今季3rdユニフォームは緑!80年代意識のレトロスタイル
