プロキャリア27年間で31クラブでプレーした稀有なキャリアを歩んできたアブレウは、11日に行われたリベルプールとスド・アメリカの一戦を最後に現役を退くことを明かした。
この発表を受けて、スド・アメリカはクラブ公式『ツイッター』を通じて、「今週の金曜日、“エル・ロコ”ことセバスティアン・アブレウはプロフットボールから引退する。我々はこの素晴らしい物語を締めくくるため彼に同行できることを誇りに思う。ウルグアイ・フットボール界を代表して、彼に心から感謝を伝えたい」と、アブレウへの感謝を伝えた。
なお、アブレウは現役引退後、すでに在籍クラブで担ってきた指導者としてのキャリアを歩んでいくとのことだ。
“エル・ロコ(変人)”の愛称で知られるアブレウは、2017年にサンタ・テクラ(エルサルバドル)から、ブラジル3部のバングに完全移籍。その際、移籍回数の世界記録(28回)を樹立した。
この世界記録樹立後はさらに8クラブ、8度の移籍を経験し、直近は31クラブ目となる母国のスド・アメリカに在籍していた。

現役復帰のフォルランが再デビュー戦でCKを直接沈めるゴラッソ「色褪せない魔法」

【会見全文】初陣に臨むアギーレ「勝ちにいく」《キリンチャレンジカップ2014》
▽日本代表を率いるハビエル・アギーレ監督は4日、札幌ドームで翌日に行われるウルグアイ戦に向けた前日会見に出席し、初陣へ意気込みを語った。<br /><br />▽アギーレ監督は、強豪国のウルグアイをリスペクトし、トレーニングの短さについて言及しつつも、希望を抱いて戦うことを強調。選手に戦う姿勢を求め、勝利を目指すことを誓った。アギーレ監督の質疑応答は以下の通り。<br /><br />――明日の試合に向けた意気込みは<br />「ウルグアイは非常に重要な対戦相手だと思っている。現在の南米チャンピオンだ。8年近く同じ監督が率いており、世界的に素晴らしい選手が揃っている。非常にタフなチームだと思う。我々はこのような対戦相手を求めているし、こういった相手にチャレンジすることで成長できると思う。チームにはワールドクラスの選手との対戦が初めてとなる若い選手がいるが、良いプレーを見たい。選手が合流してトレーニングしたのが2、3回なので、簡単ではないが、良いイメージを残せると期待している」<br /><br />――明日はベストメンバーで臨むつもりか<br />「ベストの11人を起用するわけではない。私は今回の2試合で、できるだけ全員を見たいと思っている。明日の試合でプレーする11人が次のベネズエラ戦に出場するわけではない。いずれにしても、良い選手が揃っていると思う」<br /><br />――自分たちの良さを出すのか、相手の長所を消しにいくのか<br />「我々は常にトップクラスを目指したいと思っている。良いプレーをして勝ちたい。場合によっては、ボールを保持できなくても勝つ可能性があると思う。ただ、基本的に良いプレーをすれば勝利に近づけると思っている。ウルグアイは守備が統制された良いチームなので、楽な試合にはならないだろう。我々は準備時間が短いが、勝ちにいきたいと思っている」<br /><br />――どのような印象を残したいか<br />「短い時間の中で密度の濃い練習ができていると感じているし、期待を感じられる良い雰囲気がある。そして、素晴らしい相手と素晴らしいスタジアムで試合を行うことができる。したがって、走らない、戦わない、競わないという言い訳はできない。その中で良いプレーを見せて、勝つことができれば良いと思う」<br /><br />――初戦を迎えるにあたって現在の心境は<br />「月曜に到着した選手もいれば、火曜に合流した選手もいる。長谷部の離脱は残念だ。全員でトレーニングできたのが昨日だけだったが、先程言ったようにチームには希望を抱いている。経験豊富なベテランがいれば、初めての選手もいるが、私も含めて早くプレーしたいと思っている」<br /><br />――フェアプレーとマリーシアについて<br />「私は選手に対してボールを持ってしっかりとプレーすること、ボールを持ってしなければいけないことを指導している。もちろん、フェアプレーを重視するが、戦わなければ意味がない。全ての局面で強さを見せたいと思う。ウルグアイに敬意を払うが、恐れはしない。ウルグアイの方が経験豊富であり、ラテン人の特長を有している。だが、恐れてはいない。私たちの持っている武器で戦いたいと思う」<br /><br />――先発をいつ伝えるか<br />「全員にプレーする気持ちを持ち続けてほしいので、明日のミーティングで発表したいと思う」<br /><br />――明日のキャプテンは<br />「先発と同じように明日のミーティングで発表する」<br /><br />――選手をテストすることと、結果を求めることは共存するか<br />「それ(テストすることと結果を求めることの両方)が代表監督の仕事だ。どの国の代表監督も選手を試しながら、勝利を求めて戦う必要がある。それが私の仕事だと思っている」<br /><br />――選手にどのような言葉をかけて初陣に臨むつもりか<br />「ミーティングの前に公の場でそれについて話して、メディアを通して選手に先に知られることは避けたいと思っている。ただ、しっかりとモチベーションを高め、希望を持ってピッチに向かうよう話したいと思う」 2014.09.04 22:55 Thu
