現役時代から一転、パス回しを信条とするガットゥーゾ監督「フットボールの見方が変わった」

ナポリのジェンナーロ・ガットゥーゾ監督が、自らの監督としての戦術について語った。イタリア『フットボール・イタリア』が伝えている。

昨年12月、前任者であるカルロ・アンチェロッティ監督(現エバートン)の退任を受けて、ナポリの指揮官に就任したガットゥーゾ監督は、現役時代から激情家として知られ、感情を全面に押し出したプレースタイルで“闘犬”のあだ名で知られていた。監督としてもチームの規律を重んじる厳格な面を残しているが、一方で戦術家としての一面も評価を高めつつある。

ナポリ監督就任時は、クラブと選手の軋轢により、危機的な状況にあったチームをまとめ上げ、17日のコッパ・イタリア決勝でユベントスを下してトロフィーを勝ち取るなど、ナポリの再建に取り組むガットゥーゾ監督。堅守に加えて、素早いパス回しで攻撃を展開するなど、泥臭いプレーを得意とした指揮官のイメージとはかけ離れたパフォーマンスを見せている。

28日、3-1で勝利したSPAL戦後の会見で、監督としてのプレースタイルについて聞かれたガットゥーゾ監督は、イタリアのフットボールが変化しているとして、選手時代とは異なった視点を身につけていることを明かした。

「プロになってから最初の数シーズン、パス回しばかりしているスペインのチームと対戦した時、気が狂いそうになったものだった」

「プレスに行くのは私1人で、鳥かごの真ん中をやらされているようだったよ。試合後にチームメイトと『イタリアのフットボールは、あれとは別のスポーツだよな』なんて話をしていたが、今ではここのフットボールも変わったし、優れたパスサッカーを展開するチームがイタリアにも多くいる」
