オーランド・シティに所属するポルトガル代表MFナニがマンチェスター・ユナイテッド時代の同僚であり、代表でも共闘したポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウド(現ユベントス)と同じ屋根の下で暮らした日々を回想した。イギリス『talkSPORT』が報じている。

ナニは2007年にスポルティング・リスボンからユナイテッド入り。2003年に同じくスポルティング・リスボンから加入したC・ロナウドとは2009年のレアル・マドリー移籍が決まるまでの間、クラブと代表で一緒にプレーした。

ユナイテッド入りして間もない頃、同じ時期にポルトから加入した元ブラジル代表MFアンデルソンとC・ロナウドの自宅でお世話になったというナニ。ユナイテッド公式のポッドキャストで「素晴らしい時間で、最高の思い出」として、自宅でも負けず嫌いなC・ロナウドの一面を語った。
「僕らは1カ月ぐらいクリスティアーノの家に住んでいたんだ。楽しい1カ月だった。たくさんのチャレンジをしたよ。互いに素晴らしい部分や面白い部分を持ち寄り、すごく助け合った。それが僕にとっても、アンデルソンにとっても、適応に苦しまなかった理由さ」

「クリスティアーノの競争心はすごかったね。丸1日、プールやテニスコート、卓球台がある家にいるときは常に彼からの挑戦を受けることを意味する。誰が正しくて、誰が優れているのかの議論も日常茶飯事だったよ」
「僕らが戦わなかったのは夜だけさ。僕らがソファーに座り、話していると、クリスティアーノはベッドの方に消えて行く。僕とアンドは目を覚ますと、疲労感があったけど、クリスティアーノは僕らより2時間前に起きて、ニュースを読み、こう言ってくる。『オッケー、さあ、行くぞ』ってね」

「あの当時、車を持っているのは彼だけだったから、僕らは彼に合わせて出かける準備をしなくちゃならなかった。僕らのなかにある素晴らしい時間で、最高の思い出だ」

C・ロナウドは破局したら毎月1600万円を支払い? 「妻」と呼んで話題のジョルジーナさんとの間に契約が発覚

「ワカバヤシだ!」ユナイテッドGKの“帽子姿”に世界中のサポーターから反応

ベッカム&ギャリー・ネビルがイギリス4部クラブ買収! ギグスやスコールズら92年組がオーナーだったサルフォード・シティの共同オーナーに

新SD就任のユナイテッド、今夏の補強に向けた助っ人も…ライプツィヒやチェルシーでTD務めたヴィヴェル氏と短期契約へ

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

ロナウド崇拝ガルナチョはアルゼンチン代表で浮いている? 先輩パレデスが証言

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのFWアレハンドロ・ガルナチョは、クラブの偉大なる先輩を崇拝するあまり、アルゼンチン代表で少し浮いてしまっているようだ。 現在、ガルナチョはアルゼンチン人の母親の母国であるアルゼンチンのA代表でプレー。ただ、自身はマドリードで生まれ育ち、2020年からイングランドでプレーしており、その他の選手に比べてアルゼンチン人としての意識はやや希薄だ。 通常、ガルナチョの年代のアルゼンチン人選手はリオネル・メッシを崇拝するものだが、同選手のアイドルはそのメッシの最大のライバルであるポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドだ。 スペイン時代はヘタフェ、アトレティコ・マドリーのカンテラに在籍していたが、その当時にレアル・マドリーで全盛期を過ごしたロナウドの印象は鮮烈で、同選手が自身の所属するユナイテッドに帰還を果たした際には誰よりも興奮した選手の一人だった。 さらに、先日のエバートン戦で圧巻のバイシクルシュートでのゴールを決めた際にガルナチョは、崇拝するロナウドの代名詞であるゴールセレブレーションを披露していた。 そういった振る舞いは所属クラブでは好意的に受け止められるものの、メッシが崇拝されるアルビセレステスにおいては異質と見られ、少し意地悪な先輩たちからはイジりの対象となっている。 ローマに所属する同国代MFレアンドロ・パレデスは、アルゼンチン『DSports』でガルナチョと周囲の選手たちのやり取りを明かしている。 「僕らは彼にそのこと(ロナウド崇拝)について冗談を言ったよ。彼はとてもシャイで、返事をしない。ちょっとかわいそうな奴で、僕らが彼を狂わせてしまったみたいだね」 「また、僕らは彼にグループが何なのかについても話したよ。何とかして彼らにグループの一員であると感じてもらい、快適に感じてもらえるよう努めている。ただ、今回の場合、彼はとても緊張していてうまく話すことができなかった」 「でも、彼が言ったように、僕は彼がロナウドを自分のアイドルだと思っていて、いつも彼を追いかけていて、プレーもかなり似ている。それはある意味で普通のことでもあり、それによって何かが起こるわけではない」 「もちろん、彼が代表チームに来るときは、僕らのチームというものがあり、彼も少し変わらなければならないね」 アルゼンチン代表においてロナウド崇拝は決してタブーというわけではないが、代表でのプレーやコミュニケーションを円滑に進める上でガルナチョはその愛をやや抑えつつ、周囲とより良好な関係を築いていきたいところだ。 2023.12.14 23:33 Thu
