ブラジル代表のレジェンドであるリバウド氏が、2021年に延期となった東京オリンピックに向けた同国代表について言及している。イギリス『Sports Mole』が伝えた。

リオデジャネイロで行われた前回大会で史上初となる優勝を果たしたブラジル。当時、オーバーエイジ枠で出場していたネイマールが主将としてチームをけん引し、PK戦までもつれたドイツとの決勝では最後のキッカーを見事に沈めて栄冠をもたらした。

今大会もオーバーエイジ枠にそのネイマールを迎え入れる案が浮上。しかし、所属先であるパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)が代表招集を拒否する可能性があるようだ。
そこで、リバウド氏は『Betfair』に対して、新たなリーダーに4年前のチームの一員でもあったFWガブリエウ・ジェズスを推奨。同選手は来年の4月で24歳の誕生日を迎えるが、東京五輪では特例として年齢制限が23歳から24歳に引き上げられる見通しとなっている。

「もし、私の予想通りに進めば2016年のリオでネイマールが優勝を手助けしたようにガブリエウ・ジェズスが2021年の大会でリーダーになれる存在だと思う」
「その大会の重要選手だった彼は、現在はA代表でもスタメンに定着している。リシャルリソンやルーカス・パケタ、ヴィニシウスやロドリゴらと共に、東京でも違いを生むことができるはずだ」

「ブラジルはすべての大会において優勝候補の一角だが、オリンピックでは2016年が初めての優勝だった。我々にとって伝統的に難しい大会だ。私は1996年に金に近づいたが届かなかった。過去の優秀な選手たちと同じように。だからこれは大きな挑戦となる」

「しかし、今回はタイトルを獲得するのに十分な強さを備えているチームだと思う。チームを率いるアンドレ・ジャーディンは私のよく知らない人物だが、聞くところによると人柄もよく有能な指揮官だそうだ。彼なら東京2021でより高みへ連れてってくれるはずだ」

リバウドの息子・リバウジーニョがポーランド最古のクラブ、クラコヴィアと3年契約

3度のW杯制覇にルール変更、誰もが知る「サッカーの王様」ペレの偉業

ロナウドが日韓W杯での“大五郎カット”を謝罪、奇抜な髪型の裏事情とは?

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

カカ、再婚相手の妊娠を発表! 奥さんは13歳年下の美人モデル
