スポルティングは16日、マンチェスター・シティからレンタルしているスペイン代表DFペドロ・ポロ(22)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。契約は2025年6月までとなる。
ラージョ・バジェカーノやジローナの下部組織に在籍歴のあるポロは、2019年8月に1200万ユーロの移籍金でシティに加入。その足でバジャドリーへレンタル移籍し、ラ・リーガ13試合に出場した
ここ2シーズンはスポルティングでプレーしており、昨季は公式戦37試合で4ゴール2アシスト、今季は公式戦35試合で5ゴール7アシストを記録。右ウイングバックのレギュラーとして、昨季はリーグ戦、今季は国内カップのひとつであるタッサ・ダ・リーガ優勝に貢献した。
ポルトガルで目覚ましい活躍を披露するなかで、昨年8月にはスペイン代表デビューも果たしたポロ。この度スポルティングは850万ユーロ(約11億4800万円)の契約解除金を支払い、買い取りに踏み切った。
一方でシティは今後の成長を見越して2000万ユーロ(約27億円)の買い戻しオプションをつけることに。また、スポルティングとポロの間には4500万ユーロ(約60億円)の契約解除条項が設定されている。
