今季途中までレスター・シティを率いたブレンダン・ロジャーズ氏(50)に、セルティック復帰の可能性があるようだ。

今季は2021年夏に就任したアンジェ・ポステコグルー監督の下で、スコティッシュ・プレミアリーグ連覇を含む国内3冠を達成したセルティック。かつては横浜F・マリノスで采配を振るった指揮官の手腕もあり、パーフェクトなシーズンを送った。

しかし、そのポステコグルー監督は新指揮官を探していたトッテナムへの就任が間近に。すでにセルティックがトッテナムとの交渉を許可したとも報じられており、公式発表が近づいている。
これを受けて、セルティックは後任探しに着手。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によると、クラブはリーグ3連覇を目指せる人物として、ロジャーズ氏の招へいを検討しているようだ。

ロジャーズ氏は2016年夏にセルティックの指揮官に就任すると、2シーズン連続で3冠を達成。その後、2019年2月にレスターへ活躍の場を移すと、2020-21シーズンにはFAカップ優勝を果たしたが、今シーズンは開幕から低空飛行が続くと今年4月に解任された。
セルティックはロジャーズ氏をポステコグルー監督の理想的な後任と考えている一方、レスター行きのためシーズン途中で契約を解除した際はサポーターが「常に詐欺師だ」といった批判の横断幕を掲げたこともあり、関係性に懸念もある模様だ。

なお、クラブはロジャーズ氏のほかに今季途中までリーズ・ユナイテッドの指揮を執ったジェシー・マーシュ氏(49)や、マンチェスター・シティでアシスタントコーチを務めるエンツォ・マレスカ氏(43)もリストアップしており、今後の動きが注目される。

セルティックWGアバダがMLSシャーロットに移籍 契約は延長OP付きの2026年まで

「なんとか取り戻したい」9月以来の日本代表活動の前田大然、高校の先輩・渡辺剛との初活動は「2人で活躍したい」

アジアカップの開幕が近づく中で、日本代表FW前田大然(セルティック)が自身の状態について言及した。 12日に開幕を迎えるアジアカップ2023。カタールで開催される中で日本代表は調整を続けている。 ケガの影響もあり9月以降の日本代表活動に参加できなかったが、復帰してアジアカップで合流。9日に行われたヨルダン代表とのトレーニングマッチでもゴールを記録していた。 前田は11日のトレーニング後に取材に応じ、ヨルダン戦についてコメント。「個人というかチームとして良い状態だと思います。ここ数回は辞退していたので、なんとか取り戻したいとやっていて、練習試合でしたけどしっかりゴールできて良かったです」と、ゴールを喜んだ。 セルティックでもリーグ戦5試合欠場したもの、12月中旬に復帰。5試合を戦った中、合流直前のセント・ミレン戦では10月以来のゴールを記録した。 「復帰してチームでも2、3試合やりましたし、こっちに来る前にゴールもできていたので、問題ないです」と状態は問題ないと語った前田。11日のトレーニングは途中で離脱したが「コンディションを上げたいという部分もありましたが、明日の練習から全然大丈夫なので問題ないです」と、大きな問題ではないとした。 開幕は12日だが、日本の初戦はベトナム代表と14日に行われる。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のアジア予選でも戦ったベトナム。格下ではあるが、簡単にも勝たせてもらえない相手だ。 前田は「練習前にミーティングしましたけど、ベトナムとは1点差のゲームが多くて、難しい試合になることは間違い無いです」とコメント。「ただ、前と比べるとチームは大きく進化しているので、自分たちのサッカーをすれば良い試合ができていると思います」と、今の日本代表の戦いができれば問題はないと語った。 一方で、トレーニングマッチのヨルダン戦ではカウンターから失点。前田は失点はない方が良いとしながらも、本大会前に確認できたことは良かったとした。 「失点してきていなかった中での失点ですが、試合をやっていればどうしてもしてしまいますし、大会前にチームとして経験できたこと、そういうこともあるということが分かったのはこれから先やっていく上で良かったかなと。失点は無い方がもちろんいいので、減らしていけば良いと思います」 今回の日本代表には、山梨学院大学附属高校の1つ先輩であるDF渡辺剛(ヘント)が招集されている。高校の先輩と代表では初の活動になるが、「一緒にやりたいというのは常にあったので、今回初めてそういう機会が得られたので、母校を盛り上げるように2人で活躍したいです」とコメント。ついに実現したことを喜んだ。 2024.01.11 23:57 Thu
