サッカーにおいて、1試合で3得点以上を決めることを表す「ハットトリック」。元々はクリケットで打者を三者連続アウトにすることをそう呼んでいた。(クリケットにおいて打者を連続でアウトにすることは相当難易度が高い)サッカー選手にとって、「ハットトリック」は実力を証明する功績でもあるが、そう簡単にはお目にかかれない。この企画『HAT-TRICK HEROES』では記憶に残る「ハットトリック」を紹介していく。
今回は、元トーゴ代表FWエマヌエル・アデバヨールがマンチェスター・シティ時代に決めたハットトリックだ。
アーセナルでのブレイクの後、2009年夏にマンチェスター・シティへ移籍したアデバヨール。レアル・マドリーやトッテナムへのレンタル移籍もあり、シティでの活躍は長くなかったが、公式戦45試合に出場し19ゴールを決めた。
2010年10月21日に行われたヨーロッパリーグ(EL)グループステージのレフ・ポズナニ戦ではシティ時代で唯一のハットトリックも決めている。
25分には左サイドのMFダビド・シルバがクロスを上げると、ボックス中央のアデバヨールが頭で合わせ、コースを突いたヘディングシュートがゴール右隅に決まった。
シティは後半に入って1点を返されるものの、73分には再びシルバのグラウンダーのクロスをアデバヨールが右足で上手く合わせ、ハットトリックを達成。
アデバヨールは2020年2月にパラグアイのオリンピアに加入したものの、6月末で退団。現在はフリーの身となっている。

アグエロがシティの歴史に名を刻んだ瞬間、プレミア初優勝を決めた93:20の熱狂
