クロアチア代表のDFヨシュコ・グヴァルディオルが、日本代表戦に向けてコメントした。

5日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のラウンド16でクロアチアは日本と対戦する。

4年前のロシアW杯では決勝まで駒を進めたが、フランス代表の前に敗戦。クロアチア史上最高位となる準優勝の成績を残したが、あと一歩タイトルに届かなかった。

今大会はグループステージで1勝2分けの成績。ただ、引き分けの2試合はゴールレスドローとなっており、非常に手堅い試合を見せてきた。

グヴァルディオルはRBライプツィヒに所属しているため、ブンデスリーガでプレーする選手を知っている。今大会では堂安律(フライブルク)がドイツ代表とスペイン代表との試合でゴールを決め、浅野拓磨(ボーフム)もドイツ戦で決勝ゴールを記録。スペイン戦の決勝ゴールは2部ではあるがドイツでプレーする田中碧(デュッセルドルフ)が決めた。

前日会見に出席したグヴァルディオルは、ブンデスリーガでプレーする日本人について語った。

「彼らは多くの問題を引き起こす。代表になった今、彼らは90分間をずっと戦い続けるチームだ。彼らは最後まで諦めない」

日本の諦めない気持ちを目の当たりにしてのコメント。一方で、グヴァルディオルも今大会でより注目を集め、レアル・マドリーやチェルシーなどが強い興味を示している。

その点については「僕をここに連れてきてくれた監督に感謝する。モドリッチ、コバチッチ、ペリシッチを前にすると、全てが簡単になり、もんだいについてかんがえるひつようがなくなり、恐れなくなる。ルカの最後のW杯にならないこと、何か大きなことを成し遂げる年にしたい。そして、僕が試合をするのが最後にならないように願っている」とコメント。ここで負けずに、もっと戦いを続けていきたいとした。

そして、ファンに向けても言及。「ファンは背中に風を送ってくれる。これには大きな意味がある」と語り、「彼らは僕たちにとっての12番目の選手であり。もっと増えることを願っている」と、より多くの後押しを願った。

堂安律の同期、“天才”と称されたMF市丸瑞希に男の子誕生「夫婦2人で仲良く育てていきたいと思います!」
