前イングランド代表監督のサウスゲイト氏、オファー受諾で新天地が決定か
イングランド代表の前指揮官、ガレス・サウスゲイト氏がUEFAの要職入りへ。 ユーロ2024をもってイングランド代表監督辞任のサウスゲイト氏。イギリス『ミラー』によると、同氏はUEFAから届いた技術委員会常任メンバーの就任オファーを受諾したという。 ユーロ直前には昨季のチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)決勝、レアル・マドリーvsドルトムントの技術報告書作成にもテクニカルオブザーバーとして招かれていたサウスゲイト氏。 技術委員会の仕事をざっくり言うと、コーチングの観点から試合を分析し、試合中に起きる“新たな傾向”を見つける、というもの。最先端の視覚化ツールと膨大な量のデータも用いる「アナリスト」だ。 著名なところでは、オーレ・グンナー・スールシャール氏やファビオ・カペッロ氏などが技術委員会に在籍。今回、サウスゲイト氏とともに前ウェストハム指揮官のデイビッド・モイーズ氏も常任メンバー入りとなるようだ。 『ミラー』はサウスゲイト氏について、「現場復帰の計画を公言せずも、監督解任がちらほら出る時期になれば、オファーに困ることはなさそうだ」と、遅かれ早かれUEFAを離れて監督業に戻ると予想している。 2024.08.23 11:05 Fri

2023年夏にマンチェスター・ユナイテッドを退団し、無所属状態が続いていた元イングランド代表DFフィル・ジョーンズ(32)が現役引退を発表した。今後は指導者を目指すという。 フィル・ジョーンズはブラックバーンの下部組織出身で、2010年1月にファーストチームに昇格。2011年7月にユナイテッドに完全移籍を果たした。 サー・アレックス・ファーガソン元監督に才能を見出された中、ユナイテッドでは12シーズンを過ごし、公式戦229に出場し6ゴール8アシスト。センターバックを主戦場にサイドバックやボランチでもプレー。プレミアリーグ、FAカップ、EFLカップ、ヨーロッパリーグ(EL)を1度ずつ優勝。コミュニティシールドを2度制覇していた。 しかし、2020年にヒザを負傷すると、ケガの回復が遅れてしまい、2021-22シーズンに復帰するもプレミアリーグ4試合の出場に。しかし、2022-23シーズンは一度もチームに絡むことなく、退団していた。 また、イングランド代表としても27試合に出場していた。 ジョーンズはイギリス『BBC』で引退を発表。自身が思っていたよりも短いキャリアになってしまったとし、指導者としての道を歩みたいと将来について語った。 「僕のキャリアは望んでいたよりも短く終わった」 「今は楽観的に考えている。ライセンスAを取得したので、指導者として挑戦したいと思っている」 「最終的にはチームを率いたいと思う。そこに辿り着けるだろうと決意している」 2023年9月にはユナイテッドのユースチームのコーチに就任。指導者としてユナイテッドに何を還元していくのか注目だ。 2024.08.17 23:10 Sat

「『急いで決断するな』と言い忘れた」 辞任サウスゲイトにヴェンゲル氏が後悔

退任サウスゲイトの後任探るイングランド、9月はU-21指揮官の暫定体制か
今年9月のイングランド代表は暫定体制でいくようだ。 先のユーロ2024で2大会連続の準優勝に終わると、その2日後にガレス・サウスゲイト監督が退任したイングランド。次の活動は9月の代表ウィークで、今月29日にそこに向けたメンバーが発表される予定だ。 イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』の見立てではU-21イングランド代表を率いるリー・カーズリー氏(50)が9月の活動で暫定的にA代表指揮官に就任見通しで、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)はその間も後任を探るという。 FAは新監督が確定するまでコメントしないスタンスだが、マーク・ブリンガム最高経営責任者(CEO)は先月の声明で「UEFAネーションズリーグが9月に始まるので、必要に応じて暫定的な解決策を用意している」と話す。 また、メンバー発表も迫るこのスケジュールを考慮しても、FAは多数の公認候補を精査するなかで、カーズリー氏に短期的ながらA代表の指揮を託すのではないかという。 なお、後任候補を巡ってはグラハム・ポッター氏やマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノ氏といったフリーの者だけでなく、ニューカッスルのエディ・ハウ監督やイプスウィッチ・タウンのキーラン・マッケナ監督らの名が浮かぶ。 FAとして次期監督に関して必ずしもイギリス人指導者にこだわりがあるわけではないものの、ブリンガムCEOはホームグロウン者を好むものとみられる。 サウスゲイト前監督を振り返れば、世代別代表を率いるなか、暫定的にA代表の指揮を託され、後に正式昇格。カーズリー氏が長期的にA代表を率いる意向を持つか定かでないが、暫定期間の結果次第で同じ道をたどりうるともされる。 2024.08.07 22:15 Wed
