ベルマーレ平塚でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表DFスティーブン・レイバットさん(46)が遺体で発見された。オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』によると、レイバットさんは13日に家族から行方不明届が出されていたとのこと。12日に友人を訪ねるため、南東部シドニーから東部ブリスベン近郊のバイロン・ベイへ向かったものの、13日午前には家族と連絡が取れなくなっていたという。地元警察が大規模な捜索を行った結果、14日夜にバイロン・ベイからほど近いビーチ近くの低木林でレイバットさんの遺体が発見されたとのこと。現段階で死因や事件性の有無は公式には発表されていないものの、事件性は低いとみられている。レイバットさんは2000年のシドニー五輪にU-23オーストラリア代表として参加し、2000〜2004年にかけてはA代表で15試合出場。クラブキャリアでは1999年に短期間ながらもベルマーレ平塚(現:湘南ベルマーレ)でプレーし、オランダのフェイエノールト、ベルギーのヘントなどにも在籍経験を持つ。引退後は「現役時代にそんなことはできなかった」として2021年に同性愛をカミングアウト。同年には、病院のリハビリ病棟に勤務するなか、腎臓移植によって高齢男性の命を助けていた。レイバットさんの訃報を受け、元オーストラリア代表DFルーク・ウィルクシャー氏など、多くの関係者が哀悼の意をSNSなどで表明している。 2024.01.15 13:30 Mon

シュウォーツァーにライアン…GKの宝庫オーストラリアが新たに輩出した23歳ガウチ、プレミアリーグ挑戦へ誓い
