19年ぶりCL決勝進出を目指すアーセナルをハリウッドの大女優も応援…ユニフォーム姿で応援する姿も

左SBで新境地開拓!アーセナルの希望の光、ブカヨ・サカ【ライジング・スター】
ビジャレアルに移籍した日本代表MF久保建英など、10代の選手の活躍が目立っているサッカー界。この企画『Rising Stars』では、近いうちにサッカー界の主役を担うであろう、注目の若手選手たちを紹介していく。 今回はアーセナルのU-19イングランド代表FWブカヨ・サカ(18)だ。 <div id="cws_ad">◆アカデミー時代のサカのプレーをチェック<br/><div style="margin:0 auto; max-width:100%; min-width:300px; " ><div style="position: relative; padding-bottom:56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; "><iframe src="https://embed.dugout.com/v2/?p=eyJrZXkiOiJqN0QyNDhQVyIsInAiOiJ1bHRyYXNvY2NlciIsInBsIjoiIn0=" style="width: 300px; min-width: 100%; position: absolute; top:0; left: 0; height: 100%; overflow: hidden; " width="100%" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen scrolling="no"></iframe></div></div></div> 両親がナイジェリア出身であり、イングランドとの二重国籍であるサカはアーセナルの下部組織で育ち、世代別イングランド代表にも招集されるなど順調に成長を続け、2018年9月にプロ契約を結んだ。 2018-19シーズンは主にカップ戦で経験を積むと、2019-20シーズンから正式にファーストチームに昇格。シーズン当初はウナイ・エメリ監督に左ウイングとして起用され、2019年9月19日に行われたヨーロッパリーグのフランクフルト戦では、シーズン初出場となったこの一戦で、1ゴール2アシストの活躍でチームを勝利に導き、一躍その名を轟かせた。 その後、ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ代表DFセアド・コラシナツ、そしてスコットランド代表DFキーラン・ティアニーが相次いで負傷したことを受け、左サイドバックの人材難に陥った結果、本職ではないもののサカが左サイドバックに抜擢される。 ミケル・アルテタ監督の就任後も左サイドバックに定着したサカは、当初は守備面のウィークポイントを突かれる場面も多く、1列前で見せていた輝きを発揮できずにいた。 しかし、徐々に守り方を学ぶと、逆に水を得た魚のようにアーセナルのサイド攻撃のキーマンに。走力を生かした守備に加え、高いポジション取りでゴール前に顔を出すプレーも増えていた。 新型コロナウイルスによる中断期間後は、ケガ人が復帰したこともあり1列前で起用されることに。最終的にはプレミアリーグで26試合に出場し1ゴール5アシスト、公式戦でも39試合に出場し4ゴール11アシストを記録。不振に喘いだチームの中でも奮闘を見せた。 6月にはアーセナルとの契約を長期延長したことを発表し、さらに2020-21シーズンからは現在の背番号「77」から「7」に変更されることが決まっている。 新境地を開拓しつつあるサカは、アーセナルにとって大きな未来と言えるが、どこまで飛躍するのだろうか。 2020.08.24 13:00 Mon
