手元で育てたネイマールを連れ戻すことに成功したブラジル1部・サントス。

ネイマールの近年といえば、“プレー”へのこだわりを失ったのか、大きなケガで離脱していてもクラブ通い、パーティ、カジノ…関係者や世間からの目をさほど気にせず、ハッキリ言ってアル・ヒラルの「不良債権」だった。

それでも、サントスは真面目に取り組む保証ができないスターの帰還に注力し、これを実現。

ピッチでの活躍はこれからとして、加入発表から各種クラブ公式SNSのフォロワーが激増し、インスタグラムに至っては「約350万人」が「約640万人」に。クラブ会員も「約4万9000人」だったのが「7万人」を突破した。

また、クラブ公式会員サイト『PEIXE』を覗くと、国内リーグ向けのシーズンチケットで最も高額なカテゴリーが売り切れに。

現在はリーグ開幕前の州選手権を戦うなか、ホームで迎えるサンパウロ(1日)およびボタフォゴ(5日)との名門対決は、チケットがプレミアム会員向けの先行販売でソールドアウト。

クラブ会員の激増に押し出された少額会員や非会員は、2試合をテレビで見守ることとなる。

ブラジルを代表する名門ながら近年低迷し、昨年は2部リーグを戦い、サンパウロ州選手権も2016年を最後に優勝から遠ざかるサントス。それでも、1部復帰に続くネイマール復帰で、経済的にも好循環が生まれようとしている。
