マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのエリク・テン・ハグ監督は、ウェストハム戦で負傷交代したDFリサンドロ・マルティネスの状態について言及した。
マルティネスは4日に行われたプレミアリーグ第22節のウェストハム戦に先発出場したが、後半半ばにツォウファルとの接触プレーで右ヒザを負傷。一度はピッチに戻ったが、70分にプレー続行不可能となりDFラファエル・ヴァランとの交代を余儀なくされた。
試合後にイギリスメディアのインタビューに臨んだテン・ハグ監督は、負傷したマルティネスについて以下のようにコメントした。

W杯決勝で交代のヴァラン、ユナイテッド合流後のプレーに支障なしか

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす
