チェルシーのFWピエール=エメリク・オーバメヤン(33)がガボン代表への復帰を決断した。
クラブキャリアでは、ミランやディジョン、リール、モナコ、サンテチェンヌ、ドルトムント、アーセナル、バルセロナ、そしてチェルシーと多くのクラブでプレーしているオーバメヤン。ガボンではレジェンド級の選手でもある。
ワールドカップ(W杯)でのプレーはないが、ガボン代表として73試合に出場し30ゴールを記録。同国史上最多ゴールを誇る中、2022年5月を最後に代表引退を決断していた。
オーバメヤンは自身のインスタグラムを更新。アリ・ボンゴ・オンディンバ大統領と対談したことが、復帰を決断する後押しとなったことを明かした。

一方で、ガボンはアフリカ・ネーションズカップ予選でグループ首位に立っており、6月にはDRコンゴをホームに迎え、来年1月にコートジボワールで行われる本大会出場を決めたいところだ。
果たして6月に招集を受けるのか。移籍のためにも、得点を奪うなど活躍を見せたいところだろう。

今冬にバルセロナ入りしたガボン代表FWピエール=エメリク・オーバメヤンの発言が注目されるなか、アーセナルを率いる渦中のミケル・アルテタ監督が口を開いた。
昨年末の規律違反でキャプテンマークを剥奪され、出番も失ったオーバメヤン。チームから完全に外され、孤立するなか、今月1日に双方合意で契約解消に至ると、翌日にバルセロナ入りが決定した。
そんなガボン人ストライカーはバルセロナでのお披露目会見で「彼とだけが問題だった。彼は幸せじゃなかった、それだけだ。僕もあまり幸せじゃなかったし、これで良かったんだ」と話した。
元教え子の発言から確執が明るみのアルテタ監督だが、10日に予定するプレミアリーグ第24節のウォルバーハンプトン戦に向けての会見で「それが彼の意見。尊重する必要がある」と反応した上で、考えを示した。
「オーバがこのクラブでやってきたことや、私がここに来てからの貢献に感謝している。その関係について、私がどう見ているかというと、問題ではなく、解決策だ。言えるのは解決したということ。誰の目にも映る100%の形でね」
「私も確かに多くの間違いをおかす。だが、意図するのはいつだってベストを思ってであって、自分のためじゃなく、クラブやチームのため。みんなにとってベストな形で終わったと思う。物事や状況が変わるのはフットボールの一部だ」

元ガボン代表FWピエール=エメリク・オーバメヤン(現:アル・カーディシーヤ)が、イギリス『Athletic』でチェルシー時代を回想した。
ブンデスリーガとプレミアリーグで得点王に輝いたストライカー、オーバメヤン。ドルトムントとアーセナルで腰を据えて活躍し、半年間だけの在籍となったバルセロナでも得点を量産した。
22年夏、バルセロナの財政状況により、加入半年でチェルシー移籍を余儀なくされることに。
当時チェルシーはドルトムント時代に師事したトーマス・トゥヘル監督(現:イングランド代表)が指揮も、オーバメヤンいわく再会した恩師トゥヘルは「様子がおかしかった」という。
「あの日のことをよく覚えてる。チェルシーで最初に出場した試合のことだよ」
「僕はトゥヘルと親しい関係性で、彼はいつも選手たちに理解を示してくれる…しかし、再会した彼は僕の知っている男ではなかったんだ。試合に敗れて怒りを撒き散らし、チェルシーでの仕事を楽しんでいないのだと理解した」
“トゥヘルがいるなら”とチェルシー加入を承諾したオーバメヤンだが、結局デビュー戦翌日に指揮官は解任され、コンディションもモチベーションも落ちていくことに。1年後にマルセイユへの完全移籍でチェルシーを去った。
「チェルシーでの初戦は“人生最悪の試合”。正直言って僕自身も準備ができていなかったと認めざるを得ない。ファンはアーセナル時代の僕を期待していただろうけど、不本意にバルセロナを離れ、心の整理ができていなかった」
「チェルシーも僕自身も混乱していた1年だったと思う。クラブが僕をプレーさせたくなかったことは、今思えばラッキーだったかもしれない。当時の僕は休息が必要だったからね」
その後、オーバメヤンは23-24シーズンのマルセイユで公式戦30得点を叩き出し、今季から高待遇のサウジ移籍を掴むなど、復活を遂げた。

チェルシーのガボン代表FWピエール=エメリク・オーバメヤンが愛車をリニューアルしている。
今季からチェルシーに加入したものの、ここまで公式戦18試合でわずか3ゴールにとどまっているオーバメヤン。その上今冬の移籍市場でクラブは510億円もの補強を敢行し、さらに出場機会を失っている状況だ。
そのオーバメヤンが愛しているのが車。フェラーリ「488」、ベントレー「ベンテイガ」、ポルシェ「パナメーラ」など数々のスーパーカーを所持しているが、特にお気に入りなのがランボルギーニ「アヴェンタドール」だ。
オーバメヤンはこのランボルギーニを虹色のように見えるホログラフィック仕様にカスタマイズ。普段からこの車を愛用してその派手さでファンを驚かせていた中で、再びこのランボルギーニをカスタム。フランスのカンヌまで車を送り、MSモーターズという会社に整備してもらったようだ。
同社のインスタグラムで車の最新の様子が公開されると、ランボルギーニは以前よりはすこし落ち着いた印象。それでも車体はホログラフィック仕様になっており、やはり派手だ。イギリス『サン』も「信じられないホログラム」
このランボルギーニを見たイギリス『talkSPORT』は「オーバメヤンのチェルシーでのキャリアが彼の車と同じように素晴らしいものであればいいのだが...」ときつめのブラックジョークをお見舞いしている。
クラブの事情もありうだつの上がらない日々が続いているオーバメヤンだが、再び輝きを取り戻すことができるだろうか。
