オーストラリア代表がアジアサッカー連盟(AFC)=アジアの舞台で戦うことは是か非か。現在開催中のアジアカップ「文化展示会」におけるオーストラリアのブースがあまりに“雑”だとして、同国メディア『news.com.au』は論争の再燃を心配しているようだ。イギリス連邦の一角をなすオセアニアの大国・オーストラリア。そのサッカー史を振り返ると、1882年に最初のサッカー連盟が設立され、1966年に隣国ニュージーランドと協力してオセアニアサッカー連盟(OFC)を設立。2006年にOFCを脱退し、アジアサッカー連盟(AFC)へと転籍する。
オーストラリア代表は同年のドイツ・ワールドカップ(W杯)にOFC(オセアニア)代表として出場するも、アジア杯2007予選からAFCの一員に。以後、W杯とアジア杯の本大会全てに出場。アジアを代表する強豪となった。
現在はアジア杯2023に参戦中だが、大会を記念して開催地カタールで催されている「文化展示会」におけるオーストラリアのブースがあまりに“雑”だとして、『news.com.au』が嘆きの論調を展開している。
「AFCにおけるオーストラリアの立場は、長い間議論の的となってきた。2006年にオセアニアからアジアへ向かった最大の目的は、男子A代表がW杯に出やすくすることだったわけだが、他にはアジア杯などへの参加でオーストラリアの存在をポジティブにアピールすることでもあった」
これを受けて『news.com.au』がフットボール・オーストラリア(FFA/サッカー連盟)に問い合わせたところ、各国のサッカー連盟はブースに関与しておらず、FFAも自国のブースが雑な扱いを受けていることを把握していなかったとのこと。今度はFFAがAFCに説明を求めると、AFCも「把握してなかった」と返答したようだ。
FFAは『news.com.au』を通じ、「各所にヒヤリングしたところ、文化展示会は現地の民間が主体となった取り組みであることがわかりました。アジア杯のような国際イベントにおいてオーストラリアンフットボールを表現すること、そしてブランディングを行うことは非常に重要です。我々は今後も、国際舞台でオーストラリア代表の存在をポジティブに感じてもらえるよう努めていきます」と談話を発表している。

ことの発端となったマッキンタイア氏のSNS投稿には、オーストラリア代表のAFC在籍に対して否定的なコメントがちらほら。オーストラリアの文化そのものを揶揄するような悪質コメントも見受けられる。
なぜオーストラリアのブースだけあからさまに手を抜かれていたのか。この点は明らかになっていないが、『news.com.au』は「オーストラリアの文化の欠如が浮き彫りになったのかもしれないが、代表チームのAFC所属がこれまで悪口や冷笑の対象となってきたことは間違いない」と締めくくっている。

現地カタールで取材中のオーストラリア人サッカージャーナリスト、スコット・マッキンタイア氏は「文化展示会」の写真をSNSに投稿。シリア・オマーン・パレスチナのブースが、それぞれ国の文化を知れるスペースとなっていたり、スタッフを配置しているのに対し、オーストラリアは「奇妙なことに、2本のボウリングピン、テニスボール1つ、そして茶色い紙袋、これだけが置かれていた」という。

10日、AFC U17女子アジアカップ2024の第2節がインドネシアで行われ、U-17日本女子代表はU-17オーストラリア女子代表と対戦し、1-4で勝利した。
上位3カ国はドミニカ共和国で今年行われU17女子ワールドカップの出場権を獲得できる今大会。初戦のタイ戦で4-0と勝利していた日本は、8名を変更して臨んだ。

財務問題が噴出したオーストラリアのAリーグだが、男子2部リーグ創設の動きは変わらないようだ。オーストラリア『news.com.au』が伝えている。 オーストラリアサッカー界の男女ともにトップディビジョンであるAリーグを巡っては、16日以降、複数の同国メディアが管轄であるオーストラリア・プロフェッショナル・リーグス(APL)の財務問題を報じ、従業員の大規模リストラを軸とした事業再編の動きが確認されている。 また、Aリーグ・コミッショナーも「Aリーグの観客動員数低迷」を主な要因とするAPLのデジタル部門廃止・リストラに向けた動きを認めたなか、Aリーグ創設当初にAPLとともにリーグ運営を行ってきたフットボール・オーストラリア(FFA/サッカー連盟)は、再び運営参加することに消極的であることも判明している。 しかし、FFAはAリーグの商業面、すなわち“運営”にこそ関与していないものの、オーストラリアのサッカー連盟としてリーグを“監督する立場”であることは言わずもがな。選手・役員登録や移籍システムなどはFFAを通して行われる。 かねてより進行してきたAリーグ・メン(男子)の2部リーグ制導入も、APLではなくFFAが主導で取り組んでおり、『news.com.au』によると、APLの財務問題に関わらず、最速で2025-26シーズンから2部リーグを創設する取り組みは続いていくという。 すでに同国で人口が集中する南東部のシドニー、メルボルンを中心に、8クラブの将来的な2部リーグ参入が認められており、さらに最大4クラブの参入が認められる可能性も。そうなると、今季のAリーグ・メンと同じく12チーム編成(※1)ということになる。 (※1)2024-25シーズンより首都キャンベラ、オークランド(ニュージーランド/越境参加)から2クラブが新規参入予定で14チーム編成に なお、現在はAリーグ・メンが唯一のプロリーグで、2部リーグに相当するのは各州(全8州)の最上位リーグであるナショナル・プレミアリーグ(NPL)。こちらはFFA管轄のセミプロリーグとなっており、現状Aリーグ・メンへの昇格制度はない。 ◆2部リーグ参入予定の8クラブ アピア・ライカート(シドニー) マルコーニ・スタリオンズ(シドニー) シドニー・オリンピックFC(シドニー) シドニー・ユナイテッド58(シドニー) サウス・メルボルン(メルボルン) エイボンデールFC(メルボルン) プレストン・ライオンズ(メルボルン) ウーロンゴン・ウルブズ(ウーロンゴン) 2024.01.17 21:05 Wed

元イタリア代表ディアマンティが引退表明、ユーロ2012準優勝メンバーでACLでも得点「ファンの愛が僕にとって最高の戦果」

女性審判員のパイオニア、フラパール主審がイングランドvsオーストラリアを担当…女性としてウェンブリーで初の主審に
ヨーロッパ屈指の実力が認められ、女性レフェリーの歴史を塗り替えているステファニー・フラパールさんが、また1つ歴史を動かすことになるという。 フラパールさんはフランス人審判員。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にもアテンドされ、日本人の山下良美主審らと共に6人の女性審判員の1人となった。 フラパールさんは、メキシコvsポーランドで第4審判としてW杯デビューを飾ると、コスタリカvsドイツでは主審としてもデビューし、女性主審として初めて男子W杯を裁くことに。また、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子W杯でも主審として活躍を見せた。 また、ヨーロッパでもリーグ・アン、リーグ・ドゥ、チャンピオンズリーグ、UEFAスーパーカップでも審判を務めた実績がある。 そのフラパールさんは、13日に行われるイングランド代表vsオーストラリア代表の国際親善試合を担当することが決定した。これはウェンブリー・スタジアムで笛を吹く初の女性審判員となる。 イングランドサッカー協会(FA)の審判責任者であるピーター・エルズワース氏は、期待を寄せている。 「ステファニーは優れた審判だ」 「ウェンブリー・スタジアムの満員の観衆の前で、彼女と彼女のチームが次回のオーストラリア戦の指揮を執ってくれることを嬉しく思い、イングランドサッカーの本拠地に彼女らを迎えるのを楽しみにしている」 2023.10.09 23:30 Mon
