オーストラリアサッカー協会(FFA)は22日、来るアジアカップの招集メンバー26名を発表した。
2015年大会以来2度目の優勝を目指すサッカールーズ。世代交代を感じさせる顔ぶれとなったが、頬骨骨折の手術を受けた主将で守護神のマシュー・ライアンらカタール・ワールドカップでの16強入りメンバーもリスト入りした。
また、かつてベガルタ仙台を率いた過去をもつグラハム・アーノルド監督は新顔としてジョン・アイルデールとジョン・アイルデールを呼び、Jリーグからもトーマス・デンとミッチェル・デュークの2選手を招集している。
今大会はカタールで来年1月12日に開幕し、オーストラリアはウズベキスタン代表、シリア代表、インド代表と同居のグループB。インド(1月13日)、シリア(同月18日)、ウズベキスタン(同月23日)の順で対戦する。

10日、AFC U17女子アジアカップ2024の第2節がインドネシアで行われ、U-17日本女子代表はU-17オーストラリア女子代表と対戦し、1-4で勝利した。
上位3カ国はドミニカ共和国で今年行われU17女子ワールドカップの出場権を獲得できる今大会。初戦のタイ戦で4-0と勝利していた日本は、8名を変更して臨んだ。

財務危機のオーストラリア・Aリーグだが…最速で25-26シーズンから男子2部リーグ制導入の動き変わらず

女子W杯共催のオーストラリアとニュージーランド、2029年クラブW杯招致を検討
オーストラリアとニュージーランドが、2029年のFIFAクラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)の開催地に立候補することを検討しているようだ。 2025年大会から4年に一度の開催周期になるCWCは参加クラブも現在の7チームから32チームに拡大され、2021～24年までの各大陸王者らが出場。日本からは今年5月にAFCチャンピオンズリーグ(ACL)を制した浦和レッズの出場が決定している。 また、先日に国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は、2025年のCWC開催地がアメリカに決定したことを発表している。 来月にニュージーランドとのFIFA女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の開催を控えるオーストラリアサッカー連盟(FFA)のジェームズ・ジョンソンCEOは、両国がその新フォーマットのCWC第2回大会の開催地に立候補することを検討していると語った。 2018年までFIFAでジャンニ・インファンティーノ会長の下で働いていた同氏は、「ジャンニはUEFAでチャンピオンズリーグを本当に成長させた。彼はそのために何が必要かを知っている。いつの日か最高のクラブチームが我々の海岸に来ることは、オーストラリアンフットボールにとって良いことだけだ」、「それは男子ワールドカップと同様に我々が検討できることだが、それは我々が史上最高の女子ワールドカップを実現した後だ」と、オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』でコメントした。 また、ジョンソン氏は今回の女子W杯、2029年のCWC開催を足掛かりに、2034年の男子W杯の招致を目指していることも認めている。 2023.06.28 18:23 Wed
